The food at this restaurant is fantastic! I was truly impressed by the Sassool Platter. The pita bread is made on-site, and there is a small market inside where you can purchase Middle Eastern groceries. The ambiance is pleasant, and the food is both delicious and healthy. I will definitely be returning!
This restaurant offers a variety of clearly marked vegan options, including desserts. I tried the baba ganouj, majadarah, and sweet potato salad, while my brother had the falafel. The falafel and sweet potato salad were the highlights, both very tasty. The rest of the dishes were decent. The restaurant has a food court style atmosphere, lacking in presentation. However, it is worth a try if you are in the area and looking for a quick meal.
I was really hoping to enjoy this restaurant. The side dishes in the display case looked fantastic and the service was very friendly. I was patient with the wait for the shawarma to be prepared, as there was a sign explaining that it takes time to cook fresh. However, I was disappointed with the food. The chicken kebab was not bad, with tender meat and a nice browned exterior. But the shawarma was a mess. The chicken seemed mushed or shredded and had a strong, aggressive acidic taste that made it difficult to eat. It was not pleasantly lemony or vinegary, just harshly acidic and lacking in flavor.
I came to the Morgan street food hall to try this little spot out. I decided to go with a falafel in a wrap. Inside my falafel was cilantro, tomatoes, lettuce, chickpeas and some other stuff. It was pretty good and the service was quick. It came with two sauces I believe one was sour cream and the other was some kind of spicy sauce that tasted good. Maybe next time I’ll try the chicken kabob.
I love all Sassool food. I've eaten at many of their locations and I like everything I try. However, the process at this location seemed much higher that usual. I paid $18 for two kabobs and two side items. Even with great food, I'd probably try other options at Morgan Street. Going with 3 stars just for the price
