Red Monkey Tavern - Raleigh

The place itself is beautiful. great ambiente, furnished and everything. I was on a date, so it was nice. I am hispanic and I was looking for traditional, domestic food (natural) and had the “tri-fongo” only absolutely disappointed. a greasy, tasteless mofongo (tri-fongo in my case) is a no-go. the “arroz con gandules” was “as we call it back to home. the waitress has forgotten our drinks. 3 times and when she finally came back, she came back with the drinks without ice. if they are looking for traditional hispanic food, this is not the place.

Had lunch at the Red Monkey. It was not busy, our waitress was polite, but I felt like she was rushed, and spread thin. We felt like we were an after thought.

Our sweet tea tasted bitter. Almost as if it was a day old- the waitress laughed when I said this. We asked to replace our drinks and our waitress didn’t. That’s when we decided to leave and cancel our order. Horrible service. I wouldn’t recommend after this experience.

Great Latin food, Good ambiance, live Latin music, good drinks. Fun Atmosphere. Will return!!!
