Upon being in downtown on a Saturday. We wanted to go to a quiet restaurant and were interested in sushi. Tucked away in City Market, we came here. They gave a decent selection of unique rolls. A little too much tempura options for a sushi spot. They have a small amount of seating inside and tend to require reservations. I would not say the best sushi in Raleigh, but it is quite good. I’d come back here. View all feedback.
What Maggie L doesn't like about City Market Sushi:
Food was good and service was OK!! My boyfriend and I stopped in for dinner one night while walking around downtown Raleigh, NC. It was fairly empty as it was still early in the night (around 5PM) and sat at a high-top table. We were served our food very fast; however, our server was not the most friendly. Polite and quick, but was not the most interactive. View all feedback.
We made a early reservation with our two boys and was able to get right in! The edamame was delicious, best I’ve ever had! The tempura calamari was good too, as well as the tempura shrimp! Our sushi was great, fresh fish and great price! Our 7 year old loved the rolls even! Clean atmosphere and wonderful service! Fantastic last meal for our older son headed off to boot camp! Per his request!Kid-friendliness: Great for kids who love sushi!
This place was very upscale and had some very good fish for the price. All of the rolls I had were interesting and beautiful. The matcha creme brulee was superb as well. If you're interested in either of these things, I strongly suggest reservations, especially if it's on a popular day! However, note that this isn't a run-of-the-mill sushi joint. Neither is it a typical American east coast sushi place nor like the west coast sushi I've had. It's different, even if familiar enough. It's a little pricier than what you're probably used to in the Triangle, but it does seem to come from using better ingredients.

Best sushi place I have found yet, great atmosphere, reasonable pricing and amazing quality! This is my favorite sushi place hands down! Only thing I will warn is either go early or call before hand and get a reservation! This place has limited number of seats and they fill up fast! But oh so worth it!
My God this place is good. Wow. Was recommended by a friend and will definitely be back.
