Reviews summary
Nestled in a scenic locale, this restaurant offers a mixed dining experience. While many patrons praise its delightful menu and exceptional service, some have encountered disappointments, citing unseasoned dishes and a lack of atmosphere. Diners have enjoyed outstanding meals, particularly featuring seafood and hearty breakfasts, with several commending the attentive, friendly staff and welcoming ambiance. Families appreciate kid-friendly activities and thoughtful adaptations for dietary preferences. For those seeking a cozy dining experience, outdoor seating adds to the charm. However, inconsistency in service and food quality appears, leaving some unsure if a return visit is warranted.

We were extremely grateful for the chefs' flexibility in adapting some dishes to be plant-based last Saturday. The attentive table service added to the overall wonderful dining experience.

This was the best meal we have enjoyed in New Zealand to date. The presentation, texture, and taste were all outstanding. Even the side dishes were not just simple fillers. The menu offered a delightful selection of dishes.

I hardly know where to start with this five-star restaurant! We spent a week on holiday in Raglan, and my family from Hamilton joined us for dinner at Orca. From the moment we walked in, the staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. The menu is what initially attracted us to this place, and as lovers of meat and seafood, it had everything we were looking for. We decided on the seafood platter, the Orca Platter, seafood chowder, and a ribeye filet. Oh my goodness! Everything was absolutely delicious - we couldn't find a single thing to complain about! Then we indulged in dessert, which was the perfect way to conclude our dining experience at Orca. I would gladly drive all the way from Auckland just to eat here; I've yet to find a restaurant in Auckland or anywhere in New Zealand that can match the quality of Orca's food! Thank you for such a fantastic dining experience!
Orca is one of our favorite spots because the food and service are consistently excellent. Plus, and this is a significant bonus, they welcome dogs. The food is delightful, and the service is both quick and friendly. We really enjoy the sunny outdoor terrace at the back, which our dogs love just as much. It's the perfect place for them to relax with a cold drink and take a nap after a nice walk on the beach. Thank you, Orca, for being genuinely 'family-friendly.'
Great location in Raglan. Great food and lovely staff. Took a little while to get drinks sorted it was busy though. Worth the wait as the mocktails and cocktails were excellent. Would recommend the fish and chips, chicken burger and the roast veg salad
I visited Orca with my family, including our dog Lulu, and we had a warm welcome by the smiley and friendly staff that treated us nicely at all times. The food was absolutely superb and the burgers were some of the best I've ever had. All the ingredients tasted fresh and you can tell the kitchen staff had put love into their cooking. The fries were cooked to absolute perfection. Thanks team at Orca, you are awesome and made our time in Raglan even more special.
What a trendy and quirky little spot! It was quite busy during our visit, so we had to wait for a while, but the atmosphere was charming. Our waitress was very friendly and kept us updated on our wait time. I opted for the French toast, but it turned out to be a bit too sweet for my liking. I might have been better off choosing the eggs instead.

I booked a nice birthday dinner based on a recommendation from an AirBnB host, but it was a disappointment. The staff were fine, but there was no ambience at all. By 8pm, we were the only table left and it seemed like they were just waiting for us to leave. My partner enjoyed their ostrich dish, but my duck was so tough that I had to ask for a steak knife to cut it. Considering the price of the meal, I expected better. We were rushed through our meal, with no offer of dessert, coffee, or drinks. The restaurant became cold when the front door was left propped open while we were eating. When we went to pay, there was no warmth or pleasantries from the staff. We drove past another recommended restaurant on our way home and saw people still enjoying their meals in a cozy atmosphere. We had a great experience at other restaurants and cafes in Raglan over the past four days, but I would not spend my money at this restaurant again.
