Julio's Mexican - Quinton
Julio's Mexican
Description
Julio's offers a mixed bag of culinary experiences, as reflected in recent diners' reviews. While some praise its friendly service and affordable menu, others lament the lackluster food quality, citing bland flavors and poorly executed dishes. Stale chips and an unappealing burrito marred several visits, with one patron reporting shrimp improperly cleaned. However, the occasional rave about specific menu items like taco salads and chimichangas shines through. Though convenient for a quick bite off I-64, guests might want to tread carefully, balancing expectations with the restaurant's unpredictable quality. Proceed with caution, but those who find their favorites may return.

My boyfriend and I were on our way to our usual Mexican restaurant when we saw Julio's and decided to give it a try. Despite positive reviews and its proximity, our experience went from disappointing to absolutely revolting. The chips provided with the salsa were stale, and the burrito we ordered was visually unappealing - resembling something you would find in a school cafeteria. The taste was mediocre at best, covering the disappointing aspect of our visit. However, the real horror came when I discovered that the shrimp in my burrito del Mar had not been properly cleaned. I was extremely disgusted and showed the manager, who promptly removed it from our bill. I left quietly, but felt compelled to write this review as a warning to others. Eat at your own risk, but be cautious.
The food at this restaurant is subpar. The dishes seem hastily put together and lack flavor. I ordered the Burrito Blanco, a chicken burrito with frozen vegetables. The chicken was dry and tasteless, while the vegetables were a disappointing mix of green beans, corn, and carrots straight from a bag. The prices are unreasonably high, especially for the measly portions they serve as sides. The restaurant itself is cramped, noisy, and uncomfortable. I suggest dining outside if possible. The staff's thick accents make it hard to communicate, especially in the noisy environment. Overall, I do not recommend this restaurant. They take advantage of their monopoly on Mexican cuisine in the area, offering mediocre food at exorbitant prices.
