La Pierre Lys Hotel Restaurant

We have eaten here several times over the years and I remember that the food was good, but my goodness this time was the food fabulous, service excellent and great value for money. The Pierre Lys is a traditional, family business, French... hotel, comfortable and not expensive. Located on the river, has a lot of parking and has a welcoming atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit.

Beautiful old French restaurant with excellent food, good service and it brings you back directly to the classic days, with real napkins, tablecloths, heavy dishes, etc. It's right in front of Quillan on the road from the Rugby Stadium.

We were recommened to visit this place and were deeply disappointed Worst Essen we had in 2 weeks in France. The fish was dry and dry in the sauce. The bread was dry. The coke was warm, the meat that was not cooked, as asked, and it... smoke really long time to come for food. It could have been a really good place once, but now not worth a visit.

We have been coming here for about ten years with our friends who moved to France about 14 years ago. The service is provided by the 80 year old proprietor and an elderly waitress. We have never been disappointed in either the food or the...service. English is spoken but if an attempt to speak French is made then it is very much appreciated and quite often extras such as aperitifs and coffee are often freely given. The food is typically French and well prepared and cooked to order. We always have the 4 course table d 'hôte which is very reasonably priced at €20 per head. The house wine is always very paletable and again reasonably priced at €8 a carafe. The decor is a little dated but the tables are always pleasantly laid out with clean table cloths and cutlery. Tonight my wife and my friend had the fish of the day and I and my friend 's wife had the duck all of which was cooked to individual preferences. There was some French background music which gave a nice French ambience to the evening.

Surprised my first and only experience here as a local was not good. The service was not hospitable,the food was well over priced and totally dated, it reminded me of the sketch from Julia Walters where she was waiting on tables ! I had heard...good reports regarding this restaurant however my experience was not !
