Cafe Brasserie Le Palace - Quillan

We joined two friends for our second visit to Le Palace this week and as always we were delighted by the value for money, food, service and ambience. Le Palace's best review is evidenced by how many people want to eat there and despite Michelle...increasing the number of covers the place is invariably full to capacity. Michelle is an excellent and amusing host and will do his best to accommodate excess numbers but there is of course a limit and he never compromises on the quality of service delivery just to secure extra custom. He is supported by a very efficient team and an amazing chef who cooks every one of the numerous dishes on the menu to perfection. I say this because I have now eaten each and every one. Yesterday I chose the chicken curry with rice and it was delicious ….the sauce was rich and spicy and the rice was cooked to perfection. My husband chose the entrecôte which he also declared perfectly cooked and seasoned. Our friends chose lamb and a vegetarian option and they ate every morsel so I assume they enjoyed the food as much as we did. Most of the dishes come with a large portion of fries in various styles and a large mixed salad. They keep a nice selection of wines and beers and my husband the driver chose the Heineken zero so we were all happy. There are indeed restrictions on service times but that is simply because there is only the one chef and it’s appropriate that he should take a break between services. That said the restaurant will continue serving drinks and desserts well after main service ends. Yesterday we arrived at 12:30 and left at 17:00 and didn’t stop eating one thing or another or drinking for the whole time. We can’t beat the Palace for ambiance,value for money and quality of ingredients and it’s position on the banks of the Aude is delightful. Despite the somewhat eccentric opening times, this is the most pleasant place to have a drink, directly at the river and in the regular with a small fountain to accompany her chatter in the summer. Eating hours are very strict, so make sure they are between 12 and 2 days. I'm not sure what the evening hours are, but if they're a few minutes too late, they probably won't get anything. eating is standard French price at standard prices, but perfectly acceptable that I have never been disappointed by anything I had there.

Le palace is located in a great place, right at the river in the center of quillan. we had avoided eating in the restaurant during the winter months after a bad lunch experience and then of course by locking. on a hot, sunny midday last week, when our son and his friend were with us, we gave le palace a second chance. it was great! the outdoor terraces were filled with people, social-distancing on tables in decent distance. michel smiled (yes, smiled) and greeted us! he had a young boy who helps him to wait tables. everything was calm and relaxed. we did not expect a fast service and had really no idea what to expect with food. we ordered drinks that arrived quickly, followed by our food order. wow! we all enjoyed fresh, hot, well cooked, well presented eating! three of us chose salate and one, pasta. all delicious! we will try le palace again!

A fast lunch in le palace. have eaten here a few times and never had reason to feel disappointed. the owner is sufficiently welcoming and polite. our lunch was not so good at this opportunity. my croque monsieur was reheated and. as if someone tried to eat it in the night before. the meal of my man also looked “motherwise”: salat, limp; steak hache, tasteless. the salate in the le palace are fabulous and it's really nice (especially in summer) only at the river. for these reasons we can give this restaurant another chance.
