Love Wok Box!!!. Hello, View all feedback.
Located at Queensborough landing, Wok Box is probably one of the only places around that mixes a bunch of Asian cuisine together. Passing by here numerous times on trips to Wal-mart, I never had the chance to try them out, so after class one day, my friend and I decided to give them a try. From the outside, you can tell that it's a Chinese place. However, that wasn't the case when I walked in. The decor sort of has a mix of Asianness. Especially the murals of Buddha on the wall, it sort of give a sense of Thai yet it's not exactly Thai. I think a large part using buddha as decor sort of shows the Asian stereotype. After taking a minute to look at the decor and digesting the interesting yet museum like aura of the restaurant, I turned to look at the menu. I was very surprised by the menu because not only did they offer Chinese food, they had Indian food (Butter Chicken) too. I can tell that the food here is very westernized. Their selection from each culture in Asia is very limited and
Wok Box is a franchise that originated in Edmonton, Alberta, and has expanded throughout Canada and into the United States. This specific location is situated in the lively Queensborough Landing area of New Westminster. During our visit, the restaurant was completely empty, which may be attributed to the numerous Asian food options available in the Lower Mainland. Nonetheless, the interior is quite clean and spacious. You place your order at the counter, and the staff brings your meal to your table.
I ordered the red Thai curry bowl with tofu and opted for udon noodles instead of rice, and I loved every bite. It was so delicious that I could eat it again tomorrow. Perhaps the restaurant has made improvements after receiving all those bad reviews because the service was friendly and efficient, and my food was served quickly and fresh. I noticed some complaints about the prices being a bit high. While I agree it's not as inexpensive as the Asian food you find in the mall (which I typically avoid), it definitely tastes much better. As a nice touch, they gave me a fortune cookie, and I found a voucher inside for a free combo on my next visit. Overall, I would recommend this place for anyone looking for quick and tasty noodles.
Thank you all for the fantastic meal! Best, Nick
