Reviews summary

Specializing in coconut chicken hot pot, this cozy neighborhood spot draws praise for aromatic, mildly sweet broths, fresh ingredients and attentive, efficient service. Vegetables, noodles and tender beef soak up the coconut flavor well, and a house ginger–green onion dipping sauce is a highlight. Experiences vary—some diners report oily or weak coconut notes, occasional overcooked chicken, and pricey, modest portions—so it’s best for coconut lovers and small groups who value flavor over value. Overall, a charming, flavorful destination with occasional inconsistency.

I decided to try this restaurant after noticing it was always busy, but I left feeling disappointed. I ordered the Coconut Broth with Chicken Hot Pot, expecting a flavorful experience, but it fell flat. The first couple of bites were alright, but as I continued, the meal lacked any real taste. I couldn't detect any hint of coconut, and the broth was excessively oily. Honestly, it felt like I could have been eating plain water; there was no discernible flavor. The accompanying sides didn’t enhance the meal either, although I did enjoy the taro. Given the price of $110, I anticipated a much better experience. For clarification, my order included: - Coconut Chicken broth base for 4 people ($89.95) - Taro - Small Coconut Pudding - Coconut Milk. The sauces were unremarkable; the most flavorful component was the garlic and chili, which is saying a lot. Additionally, they didn't offer any water unless I specifically asked for it, which struck me as odd. Be sure to request water if you go. The service was also quite slow, and I found myself repeating my order to the waitress multiple times. Overall, I would not return, and my parents shared the same sentiments. I ended up going home and having a sandwich because I left feeling completely unsatisfied with the meal.

The Hainanese chicken rice here is absolutely delicious and offered at a fantastic price! However, be prepared for a long wait for an indoor table, so factor that into your plans. We decided to sit outside since we were hungry. We tried the coconut chicken hotpot, which was decent but not my favorite. I would personally recommend just sticking with the Hainanese chicken from this place!

This place has the WORST SERVICE ever! Rude staffs! They love making their customers wait a long time before seating them. And take forever to serve the food! As we waited, they used 2 Empty tables to place take out orders Instead of giving it to the customers. Along with two tables in the back that they use to PREPARE the take out! Why does the take out need to take up 4 tables??? They rather make the customers wait longer!! This is place is a joke. They don't know how to manage a restaurant at all. Refusing to ever come here again! This place don't care about their client. So Disappointed!!!!!

Been there twice. Really love their coconut chicken hotpot. Make sure to drink the soup before you put extra stuff in. They use real fresh coconut water and the taste is savory and sweet, perfect combo. The outdoor dining is nice as it could get pretty hot and steamy indoor.

I recently visited this restaurant specifically to try their coconut broth with chicken. I ordered that along with their Hainan chicken. The Hainan chicken was juicy, but the rice was bland and uninteresting. As for the coconut broth with chicken, the chicken was tough and overcooked, and while there was a hint of coconut flavor, it wasn't very strong. The dish was also quite oily, with the coconut mostly serving as a garnish. It tasted more like chicken broth with a splash of coconut oil. Overall, the food was disappointing, and I don’t plan to return.

Healthy and fresh food, friendly and attentive service. No reservations accepted but the wait time wouldn't be too long even on Saturday evening. Highly recommend the coconut broth chicken for 2 (comes with veggies and noodles). I also liked the braised pork feet which melts in mouth. The highlight is their chicken for the hot pot, as it's very tender and with a hint of coconut after being cooked in the broth.

My friend and I ordered the coconut hot pot. The coconut soup base is good sweet and light. I personally don't like thick and dense soup base. Their restaurant made chilly sauce is a delight. Sweet and a little spicy, good for dipping. The waiters are friendly too. The only down size is the food is pricy and the amount is not for a big eater. If you like coconut and chicken, give it a try.

Coco Rooster has been on my list of places to try since it opened last year. We were intrigued by the coconut chicken hotpot, which turned out to be lighter and healthier than traditional hotpot broths. The atmosphere was cozy, and the staff were welcoming. We decided to go for the lunch special combo, which included coconut fresh chicken soup and fresh salted fish over rice for $13.99. Unfortunately, we found it somewhat disappointing. While the soup was flavorful, the chicken was tough and dry. Although the salted fish and meat were tasty, the portion sizes felt small compared to the amount of rice served. We may give it another shot for their signature hotpot, but based on our initial experience, we can't recommend it.

The beef chunks were also tender; just cook them until there’s no pink but don’t go too far beyond that. The Napa cabbage, assorted mushrooms, watercress, and wide rice noodles are absolutely worth trying, as they soak up the deliciously sweet coconut broth. The dipping sauce made of ginger and green onion paired perfectly with the chicken and added a burst of flavor. Overall, this is a hotpot that doesn't rely on a super salty soup base. As someone who prefers milder flavors and tends to steer clear of overly salty restaurant food, I found this place to be fantastic! I did add a couple of drops of soy sauce mixed with a spoonful of the soup base in my bowl for a little extra saltiness. After the hotpot, don’t forget to sip on some of the coconut chicken soup—it's really delicious!
