What Elmar Rapp doesn't like about Cafe Theophano:
This is an apparently nice restaurant at the main Plaza in Quedlinburg (Markt). I visited Quedlinburg last year and when I saw the place I thought it was a good idea to have dinner there. Not many customers at dinner time (19:30). However, it took...about 25 min to take an order (strange feeling, I thought I was invisible) and 30 more to bring the food (that was good, by the way, goulasch and some pasta). Good local... We were standing in front of closed doors today, a shower informed that the restaurant was closed until further notice due to the Corona situation. You can also find similar information on the homepage.
Like in most of German restaurants also here kitchen was closed between and Unfortunately they don't offer any snack either. All I could get was sweet. Yet I enjoyed their tasty coffee, friendly staff, fast service and especially an amazing view to the...square and town hall from outside seating
This is a nice restaurant and cafe facing the market. Staff was professional and friendly. The food was good, consisting of traditional dishes, plus a few other choices. Ate here twice during my stay and would do so again
Went out for a spontaneous dinner. While walking around town, we noticed that a lot of restaurants were closed. Theopano happened to be open and there were a handful of people inside seemingly enjoying their experience. So we joined them. The restaurant felt a bit...odd at first because we were basically the only people in our section. However, staff was very friendly and quickly made us feel right at home. The menu is easily navigated and offers something for everyone, including a vegetarian option. We decided on a couple of dishes, were brought some complimentary bread and spread, followed by our beverages. Food arrived reasonably quick. Not too quick where you start to suspect that it's all been sitting in the back and just needed to be reheated. Not too long to make you feel bothered, either. In essence, just perfectly timed. Our dishes looked very appetizing and portions were more than sufficiently large. We took our first bites and were pleasantly surprised by the flavor exactly what we had hoped for. We had a younger child with us who did not want to eat. Staff, however, offered her cake or ice cream (checking with us, of course). She was able to look at all the cakes and then decided on ice cream which was very nicely presented and which she enjoyed tremendously. After we had finished our food, we shared a piece of cake. It was absolutely delicious and we've already made up our minds to stop by one afternoon for some coffee/tea and cake. Overall, a very pleasant and positive experience
We traveled to Goslar, Leipzig and Praque, no food exceeded the quality, taste and dining experience of our Sunday evening dinner on the Markt on a cool September evening. My salmon could not have been prepared any better...roasted filet of salmon with pumpkin, root vegetables,...and mashed potatoes wasabi style...this was heaven. My wife enjoyed a menu special of pork blade with potato dumplings...the pork had crispy skin and was butter tender...One of the better meals that we have experienced
