When I knew we were to have an evening out with my husbands work at Top of the Fair I was skeptical. I had read the reviews and was not looking forward to the evening. I was very wrong. We were fortunate to be in a reserved area with our own bar and servers. It was clean and the appetizers were varied and tasty. We were given a prearranged menu which offered something for everyone. I had the Chicken Oscar and it was... View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Top Of The Fair Restaurant:
The Top of the Fair was a place that I remember for its quality food and excellent service. Sadly that is just a distant memory. The views and premises are the same but the food and service when my wife and I visited were terrible....More View all feedback.
The buffet food was great and fresh. The staff were amazing. The is a great night out with friends if you want to do something different that is fun.
We were a group of 13 celebrating our friends 50 th Wedding Anniversary. We had a good long table with a Tv at each end, one on the races and the other on the hockey game. The food was fabulous, but a very long line for the prime rib. The staff was friendly, helpful and efficient. We had a great time, and enjoyed the Molson Cup.
Disappointing ...I had phoned here 1 month before to reserve a table for 8 my husband 60 th birthday .when we arrived the gave us a table for 4 and 4 I was not very happy the point was to be able to chat with everyone that was invited at one table. We were told it was another area of the business that took the bookings. WELL then I think they should go over the floor plan and explain what a surprise party and large table mean ..to the people that take reservations .will not be back..the food was NOT worth the price .some was just ok and they ran out od carrot cake must have just had the one for a couple hundred people ...so grab dessert first lol
We have attended the New Years Eve Buffet and Horse Racing event at the Top of the Fair a number of times over the past decade. I don't think that we will do it again. We had wonderful seats with a great view of the track and our server was very attentive under the circumstances. The problems lie in the food and the delivery of it. There were two main food areas but one of the areas was split into three separate lines and the lineups for each were stupendously long. The prime rib came in only one degree of doneness - very rare and oozing blood. For some in our party who like their meat medium or well done, they could not even stomach looking at the beef. Some went for the fish - but the fish was uncooked and cold under the coating. The food stations were not set up efficiently - there was only one station for the salads and one station for the fish/pork/pasta and again, the lineups were long. The stations were allowed to run out of food, so you didn't get potatoes or vegetables - did you really want to get back into the long line for potatoes and vegetables? As far as I could tell, there was only one dessert lineup for all of the people and it was not appealing. If this was an event that this restaurant did not put on regularly, I might be more forgiving. This event is something that they regularly do and they should have ironed out the kinks, food quality and food service many years ago.We will find something else to do next New Years Eve.
We were a party of six and had the dinner buffet here in November. We were disappointed both with the quality of the food and the selection. On the menu was roast beef (not prime rib), turkey, and some dry looking salmon, carrots that were almost raw and various salads and rolls. There was hummus and spinach dip, but no sign of any crackers to have with them. Dessert consisted of some small squares of cake, frozen berries and cheese cake with chocolate or caramel sauce. When we asked for coffee after our meal we were informed that it was not included in the $34.99 price...really?. All of us felt that the buffet was overpriced and will not go there again
