We... read more My husband & I have been to some truly memorable restaurants during our travels which include France & St Barts. I would put Initiale certainly in the top 5. We went there on our first night & I don't see how this experience can be topped. The ambiance & the service were perfection but the dinner was out of this world. Every dish was prepared as a work of art. Every bite was special. It is owned by Rolande & Ivan. Rolande as the hostess could not have been more charming. She greeted us & seated us at a lovely table. This restaurant is beautifully appointed but yet not stuffy. It is a special occasion restaurant. They have 2 options for their tasting menu. A 5 course & a 8 course. We chose the 5 course. After a spectacular dinner, she brought out meringues to take home & finished w a tour of their kitchen which was as immaculate as an operating room. We had the honor of meeting her husband, Ivan, who is the chef. Thank you for an extremely memorable dining experience.

The restaurant does not iron the creases on its table cloths that one would expect from a restaurant of this category. Whilst the experience is pleasant the restaurant does not add up to the prices it charges. One would expect more if to be considered as a two star macaron level and bill. I addition whilst well staffed and of good intentions the detail of dealing with serviettes dropped or absence from the table seemed missing. Worth the visit as perhaps in Europe one is spoilt too much and one is over exigent.

Le nec plus ultra de Québec...Pour la qualité globale le prix est très raisonnable mais pas à portée de tous.

The service was attentive and the wait staff was knowledgeable about the food and wine selection. The meals were fabulous, a small appetizer, followed by salad. The Mains were all terrific. We were un-rushed and we were unanimous that this was the best meal we had in Quebec City. The wines were well prices. Located right in the heritage part of town, this is a wonderful place to go for a walk afterwards down by the water-side.
