I was the only person in this restaurant at 8pm,which usually signals 'stay away'. I was pleasantly surprised to have impeccable service and food. The wine list was extensive which I didn't find in other local restaurants. They gave me a very large cognac to finish my meal. I,ll be back after I've saved up! View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Garrafeira Teixeira:
Don't waste time to try "portuguese tapas" because are so small and bad. Stay focus on drinking wine. Would be better. The waiter has little knowledge of the wines, just repeating the menu View all feedback.
Absolutely amazing eating, the atmosphere is beautiful and the sangria is annoying would like to come back here and again great job stores
Kellner gave us the last table that was on the road, as all others were reserved. 5 minutes later he gave away 2 of the reserved tables that were covered to customers who just came in. there was no attentive service, garlic bread...taste stable. two of the starters had never appeared. one of the tapas we ordered has never turned up again. very disappointed by the meal, the worst we had. eat bad and overpriced, service not existent. will not return.
Only 1 waiter, more terrible service. eating was not bad, but his recovered return I'm sorry for the waiter, not his fault, he did his best!
Oh where to even begin?! The restaurant had a refit and opened again on Friday, we visited on Sunday and honestly cannot begin to tell you just how wonderful the whole experience was! The extensive wine list is delicious and is available by glass or...bottle The food, ohhh the FOOD! Delicious does not cut it. We enjoyed many dishes and each was perfect, you have got to try the sausage, the carrots and the Parma ham they were my favourites. My husband had a shellfish pate that was packed full of flavour (as was everything) We also enjoyed some oysters, first time of ever having them and we are hooked BUT they must be done in the Teixeria way, on the barbecue until they crack with a squeeze of lemon juice perfecto! The dishes are served on flattened bottles which is a great and quirky touch! We stayed until 1am, enjoyed a toast to the new restaurant with the owners and their family and just had the most wonderful evening The whole team are soooo friendly, especially the host who talked us through the menu and gave us recommendations that were spot on. We will absolutely be back the next time we visit, it really is just faultless
