For Main: Miso-Kabeljau is a must! Wagyu beef was also pretty delicious. Sushi roles were nothing too special compared to other places. The dessert must be a Goma Street. The leftovers were also delicious. View all feedback.
What Mike Ziemann doesn't like about Sokyo:
The dining experience was alright. Service was generally good. Food presentation was somewhat mediocre — some sashimis were stuck together, showing some pieces not thoroughly sliced… other dishes were fine. View all feedback.
Food was beautifully presented but taste of pastries were a bit of a let down. Fruit platter was to share and was very fresh. I had the sokyonomiyaki and it lacked enough sauce.
A bit expensive for a la carte and the food wasn't to taste
What a lovely yummy breakfast! So glad I came to try during my staycation. Will come back to try other set breakfast menu.
This restaurant has been on my list to try for awhile. The toro was exceptional and the wagyu beef was a close second. The other items we had were also amazing (including the Japanese scallop, miso kingfish, tai nori, whitning tempura, kingfish furikake and spicy edamame. They were out of the smaller sakes so we got a carafe and it was delightful and fresh (heiwa tsuruume yiuzushu). Pretty pricey sushi wise so not for the faint hearted. Noise wise the music was quite loud at times and didn't quite go with the Japanese vibe. Service wise they were run off their feet but food was super quick. The sake actually took the longest at like 25 30 minutes and we already had a couple dishes on the table by then. Overall, would go again but price point its more for a special night then regular occurrence. Note they also charge 15% surcharge for stat holidays.
One of my favourite places in Sydney, Chilli Crab Omelette is one of the item that you have to try when you’re having breakfast in Sokyo!Shoutout to all Sokyo’ staffs, specially Liz and Chase Kojima!Awesome team!!
