Contribute FeedbackBlack Bar and Grill in Sydney is among the top 10 steak restaurants in the area, offering great cuts of meat and a high-end menu. While the location provides stunning views and the food is delicious, some diners have had mixed experiences with the service. Despite a few hiccups, such as slow drink service and inconsistent steak cooking, the restaurant has received positive feedback for the warm welcome, helpful staff, and fantastic food offerings. From succulent steaks to delectable desserts like creme brulee, Black Bar and Grill has left a lasting impression on many customers, making it a recommended spot for a special occasion or a memorable dining experience.
This is our 3rd visit for the champagne lunch on the weekend and absolutely loved it again. Atmosphere, service and the food were all excellent. Oysters were again so fresh & delicious. Mains were all great, especially the steak, strip loin wagyu, best steak ever (my son's words). Will definitely be back & highly recommend.
The service and food were excellent. The ambiance was lovely. Not a restaurant for small children but great for a special night out.
We have a group of us meeting up once a month - 2 months sampling the top 10 Steak Restaurants in Sydney. Working through these is a treat and exceptional experience in the main.So for the Black Bar and Grill I have held off a little while as I wrote a first draft and it was not very flattering due to my experience. The menu options are exactly as expected for a Top notch Steak Restaurant. Great cuts of meat and various quality / marbling options. Costs are high end however if delivering on the experience then you would expect to pay for the privilege and leave satisfied. Delivering on the promise: Not so much. The experience part was off to a good start with great views outlooking the water. Not too many people in the restaurant on the day. Late April and looking out at a great sunny day. Of course myself and the others ordered a cold beer and some wine to start off. Marbled cut of meat to splurge a little and sample a really good cut of meat. Several sides to share between the table and oysters for entree. Here in lies the experience: Started with a waiter who accidentally dropped a beer over my shoulder and right down my shirt and suit pants. A lady apologised and offered any dry cleaning which was all well and good accept nothing else to change into and spending the whole lunch smelling like a brewery. This was not much fun on the train on the way home I will add. The Oysters were very good and a saving grace. The horse radish floss on them was a unique flavour and delicious. The main course arrived and what I ordered as Medium Rare came out nearly Blue and as such the marbling was barely rendered which left it taste fatty and not pleasant. Another of our party asked for the same Medium Rare and his was close to Well done. For some reason we had a mixed bag of results with our steak and unfortunately places Black Bar and Grill on the bottom of my list at this point.
We visit Black every time we are in Sydney, normally once or twice a month. The quality of food never disappoints and the staff is exceptional. Very good Sommelier who can recommend a wine we would not normally try and we are pleasantly surprised every time. Great restaurant.
We walked in as soon as the restaurant opened, without a reservation, we were lucky enough to get a window table. All the staff were very accommodating and knowledgeable. Our waitress was lovely and helped us navigate the exciting menu. *** The food *** was spectacular. Everything we ate had my eyes rolling a little into the back of my head. Highly recommended for a special occasion, or if you can afford it, as often as possible.
