We went as a big group to La Poule d’Or and had a very fun time. Service was excellent, and the food was good, though more expensive than other local restaurants. The head chef spent considerable time with us tellingly jokes and making us feel at home which was a nice touch. View all feedback.
What Maurice Klein doesn't like about La Poule d'Or:
Have been waiting ages to go to this auberge and had high hopes of lovely authentic french food, Michel Trauma came around to every table and introduced himself and i thought that was a lovely touch. The food was dire for the money you can find much better, seems like they are living off their michelin star, but believe me no stars were worthy of this meal, even if it was only the auberge, wouldn't want to waste my m... Went to vist Michel Trama’s restaurant. Didn’t know there was a restaurant and a bistro and in order to eat at the Michelin restaurant you have to have a booking. Fair enough. We enjoyed our lunch at the bistro. Come between 12 14 for this. We waited for 45min for the main course and they brought the wrong dish for my son. Luckily changed that pretty quickly. But just not good enough when there was only us and one other table. Didn’t bother to ask if we wanted coffee for the dessert. Managed to get a hold of a waiter, who we haven’t seen for 15minutes and order a cappucino. It arrived after 20min. At this point there was 3 tables at the whole restaurant. Food was fine but no experiance. Michel Trama came out to say Hello to all of the guests, which was the highlight for us… Price we thought was very fair. 95 euros for 3x2 courses including 2 glasses of Wine and a coffee. The fair Price and the visit from Mr Trama is the only reason I punches the rating up from 2 to 3. However would much rather have a dinning experiance and paid more. Unfortunately that was not the case.
Boxing Day lunch with the family. Very attentive staff, chef on site greeting the clients. Nice feeling. The 3 courses lunch is ravishing for the buds and makes sense with the surrounding decorations. A must go in the region and of course try l’aubergade for dinner.
