Rancho Manuel - Puntarenas

We got lucky and just happened upon this place along CR 34. The food was delicious, large menu, big portions. Fish was fresh and well prepared. We had the sea bass and the mahi mahi with shrimp sauce (decadent). Prices were a bit higher than typical soda but worth it. Service was a little slow, but very friendly staff so it wasn’t an issue. Absolutely recommend this gem! Trip advisor says it’s closed but it is not! Hours are 11 am-11pm. Pura vida!

We thought we would try this restaurant located on the main road outside of the town of Herradura 5 min. from Jaco. We parked in front of the open air restaurant and went in and ordered our dinner which was bland and service was slow even though we were only one of two tables occupied. After we finished our dinner which was mediocre at best, we paid our check and proceeded to our car. The owner was sitting at the table adjacent to the parking lot working on the day receipts. When we got to the car not more than 25 ft. from where the owner was sitting, we noticed something amiss in the car. On further examination we realized burglars have stolen our day luggage containing our camera, computer, and other valuables. we were flabbergasted that the owner did not hear or see anyone lurking around or breaking into our car. We confronted the owner and he said he didn't hear or see anything while he was sitting 25 ft. away. We called the police and when they showed up we explained what happened. When the police asked the owner about the events that just took place he told the police we were probably making the burglary up because he didn't see or hear anything. We filled out the paperwork at the station and left feeling we were chumped by the owner and his food. Stay away from this place or you'll regret it.

If you want authentic, not touristy, Costa Rican cuisine, come here. Every bite was delicious. It is a spacious, open-air spot with ample parking. We had so much food at such affordable prices, that we ended up having enough for lunch the following day. We had a seafood rice dish, the patacones with guac, black beans, and pico, a deep fried red snapper, a green salad, fried yuca, and breaded mahi-mahi. Everything comes with salad and fries and other sides not mentioned in the menu (which we discovered is common in CR). The red snapper made us want to sing. So good. The patacones were incredible. The seafood rice was so packed with seafood. Just every single bite is perfect. You will love this place.

We found this place at our last night in CR Gerardo is very attentive and went beyond to take care of us! I highly recommend this place, not only the food is really good, but the location is near where we are in Los Suenos, and beautiful ambience!. Excellent food, drinks and service... Thanks Gerardo!.

Open air with a feeling of soda, this place seemed like most other places where we were. It wasn't. The food had good portions with low prices and the food was excellently cooked. It was a flawless dinner with good drinks and even better food while we poured the rain into a large central terrace. The server spoke excellent English, which was very helpful, and they let us use their Wi-Fi if we had a little trouble. It was from what I learned, a classic Costa Rica restaurant and is something I would recommend you to try.
