So why did I score a two and not a one? Well the prices are reasonable for a four seasons. It is the only restaurant that serves breakfast (besides room service). Ordered off the menu to avoid hot plate Buffet, but had soggy crispy bacon. The worse part was the number of bees wasps. After spending a few minutes guiding them away from my son and daughter with a waiter helping I asked to move tables. We did and they were just as bad there. We got the check and left 90% of our breakfast (no offer to cover all or part of the check). The previous night we ate there and the view was to die for! Amazing! The spice level on the food was far too much for my wife but the view made it worthwhile. Avoid for breakfast but take in the view in the evening! Hence two and not a single star.
Ketsi is one of the more casual restaurants housed in the Four Seasons Punta Mita resort. The restaurant offers authentic Mexican cuisine and has the cutest centerpieces with mini sombreros. Since the service at the actual resort is impeccable, the same carries into the restaurant. Even though you are unfamiliar with the menu and its content, the waiters do a great job patiently explaining everything to you. For a family of 4, we were just looking for light lunch and ordered the guacamole with bacon as an appetizer and catch of the day (mahi mahi) tacos, carne asada, and tacos al pastor all to share. The guacamole was very fresh and they bring out the fresh ingredients and the morcajete (the lava rock bowl) to mix everything on the spot. The tacos and carne asada were also delicious! Not only was the presentation so nicely done so that you can tell you're eating at a nice restaurant inside a nice resort, but the dishes were also prepared very carefully with fresh ingredients. We left lunch feeling not too heavy as I tend to after eating Mexican food. Highly recommend the tacos! The only thing that bothered me were the black birds that kept encroaching and walking on top of neighboring tables. As someone who really doesn't like birds, i was very anxious about them the whole time I was eating. Though this is inevitable because the restaurant is half outdoors, I would have liked to eat my meal without worrying about them. However, this is easily avoidable if you sit towards the center of the restaurant instead of the tables along the outside. Overall, I highly recommend eating here if you're looking for a more casual place to enjoy Mexican cuisine!
Having stayed nearby in Real del Mar, just to the south of Punta Mita, we were ready to venture out of the Exclusive Resorts' compound, and explore the dining options at the Four Seasons. Ketsi appealed to us due to its casual setting under a giant palapa on the beach. We were dressed appropriately (resort casual) so we asked our concierge to make us a reservation later that evening at Ketsi. A hallmark of Four Seasons is unbelievable hospitality and over-the-top service, in a beautiful setting. This was our experience at the Four Seasons in Punta Mita and it continued at Ketsi. Greeters, hosts/hostesses and servers genuinely engage guests--not just with small talk, but in genuine conversations. The level of professionalism and care is evident throughout the grounds and the restaurant. We had an enthusiastic server who was eager and excited to acquaint us with Ketsi's unique cocktails and their obscure ingredients. He spent 15 minutes explaining the significance of the ingredients to the local area, including a brief history on the Tequila Mezcal regions where the crops from which the local drinks are grown. It worked! Every member of my party ordered a Tequila or Mezcal based specialty cocktail, and each one was was spectacular and shared with everyone. I would consider staying here or at the St. Regis, which is also inside the Punta Mita gate. Between the two properties, there are a dozen interesting restaurants catering to nearly every taste.
Catch of the day sandwich delicioso! Great view of the bay and plenty of seating in the sun or shade whichever you prefer.
