Federico's Cafe - PULA

Una cena in famiglia, appena arrivati il personale di sala, gentilissimo e cordiale, ci fa accomodare al tavolo cortesemente abbiamo chiesto di sedere dentro e la richiesta è stata subito accolta. Il menù presentato sembrava allettante dati gli altisonanti nomi con cui venivano descritti piatti e i prezzi visibilmente sopra la norma già 3.50€ per il coperto ma vabbè sorvolo sulla questione storica del coperto. Una tagliatella al ragù che senza infamia né lode è stata finita ma con molta delusione; un pezzo di coniglio con patate e carote una manciata con una crema di piselli, che è risultato abbastanza sciapo e senza carattere è una carne bianca, avrei osato di più; la seada salata è stata servita con lo stesso ragù di salsiccia delle tagliatelle, anche questo con poco carattere sale, peperoncino, il sapore della salsiccia... Nulla, in sé aveva troppi contrasti che non permettevano di assaporare il piatto già dalla prima forchettata. In conclusione, prezzi alti, fame all'entrata e all'uscita pochi piatti proposti e a tratti troppo complessi nel loro insieme ...

Ho scelto questo delizioso ristorante di fronte alla chiesa per una serata rilassante. Il posto è carino e all'aperto, il servizio è buono. Il menu è ricercato e con prezzi medio-alti ma la qualità del cibo è ottima. Lo consiglio a chi non ha problemi di spesa. L'unico aspetto negativo è la carta dei vini con prezzi oggettivamente troppo alti. Non si può pretendere di pagare 35 euro per un prosecco che si trova a 7 euro. Tutti i vermentini superano i 30 euro. Questo mi mette in difficoltà, nonostante abbia apprezzato la cucina, potrei decidere di non tornarci più. Bisogna evitare di esagerare.

This looked promising nice location and seating for the evening. It didn't seem too pricey. Good vegetarian options on the menu. When it came to ordering, the menu changed and there was just the one vegetarian option. A fish dish was ordered supposedly with pan cooked vegetables. In both cases the portions were small and not as described the fish did not come with the vegetables and the vegetarian ravioli was rather lonely on a large plate. The drinks were decently priced, but we did not come out so mmuch for the drinks. Huge disappointment.

Extremely disappointing portion sizes and the lasagne had clearly come straight out of the microwave. Prawns drenched in cheese of indeterminate provenance. A tiny tomato salad. The whole experience left us feel conned. Only saving grace was the two young women who served us. It’s a terrible tourist trap — steer clear!

Having found this beautiful spot on a walkabout of Pula, we booked a table, then after having read the other reviews, nearly cancelled. Thank goodness we didn't. First off, staff lovely and friendly. Secondly, wine, which was the cheapest on the menu, was lovely. Stater was the best Caprese we've ever tasted a real treat. Finally, the food was fabulous! Lasagna piping hot and was a real taste of Italy. The Tuna steak was fresh and beautifully presented. Maybe Brits abroad are expecting Pizza Express but for us, this was the meal of our holiday. We paid far more elsewhere and Fredrico's trumped it. Highly recommended. If ever in Pula again, this is the first place we'll return to.
