My wife and I had some time to kill, so we decided to take an extended walk through PV. On our way back, we were hungry so decided to find a spot for some dinner. We were walking by this place and decided to read the menu to see what they had. The menu seemed good, but nothing really jumped off the page. While reading, a guy comes down the stairs and says, Best restaurant in PV . I chuckled and said, Oh, do you work here . He smiled and said, I 'm the owner . He invited us in, to take a look around, just so we could see the place. What a cool little setting. We walked up the stairs and into the garden area (which spans a few floors, right up the hillside). So, we decided to stay and he tells the server to send guacamole to the table on him. That was nice of him as a small token of appreciation. As we 're looking over the menu, I thought things seemed a little high by PV standards. The guacamole on the menu was $10, what?? My 3 ribeye tacos were $20? why so high. Well, it didn 't take long to realize the prices were great. That $10 guacamole was made table side with an avocado that was the size of a mango. The girl making it asked if we 'd like it spicy and made it as requested. It appeared to have about 5 or 6 ingredients, and was fantastic...and really filling. My ribeye tacos were filled with about a pound of meat and they also came with a chile (like from relleno) split in half, and filled with a meat and cheese mixture. My wife got coconut shrimp which came on a glass stand up cake platter, on a bed of lettuce with a fresh coconut, split in half, and filled with dipping sauces. There was also a strolling Mexican Harp player (his words not mine). We loved the sounds that he was able to make, and he was very entertaining. This restaurant is a little off the beaten path, but well worth there short walk up the hill. Food was great, service was great, and the atmosphere is incredible!
We visited fairly early (6pm) and were one of the only tables occupied at the time. We chose to get seated in their beautiful garden. There are a number of steps up to reach the seating if you wish to sit in the garden. My mother ordered the chicken soup which she enjoyed, and I had the mixed molcajete (385 pesos) which had chicken, steak, cactus, panela cheese and leeks with a tomato and chorizo sauce. The large bowl that it was served in was very hot which kept everything warm as I ate it along with the tortillas that were served with it. The meal was a bit pricey, but service was excellent and I had leftovers to take home. They do accept credit cards.
La atención de los meseros fue muy amable y respetuosa, la comida riquísima, la temperatura de los alimentos era la adecuada. Sin duda si voy a Vallarta regreso a este restaurante.
