As we walked through the Pitillal neighborhood, we saw several signs showing Beto's Mariscos with an arrow on the road. I thought I was reading a restaurant in Pitillal called Beto's, so we followed the signs to this hidden pavillion behind a big bakery... What we discovered was an above-average fish restaurant. We recommend Mariscos Betos. The restaurant is something out of the way, but worth the trip. The whole food was great, but the Calamari was the best we ever had.
Best seafood, not in Puerto Vallarta. Beto is worth the taxi ride. The Resturaunt is located in El Pitillal, a very local area that was a refreshing change from the tourist area of Malacon. Thursday night 1/2 price tags with other specials. Do not miss a local favorite when you are in Puerto Vallarta.

The fare is quite standard for Puerto Vallarta, but if you are in Pitillal, it is a good bet for a reliable meal.
Best coconut shrimp I've ever had Off the beaten track, but what a find. I'm a big eater, but it fills you out.
On the first day to PVR, we passed this small establishment and were greeted by an attractive woman. She asked if we wanted to have lunch, but we were intent on getting to the city. We finally made it back, the day before we left....It was a very early lunch for us (before noon) and ordered a bottle of wine. Based on its color, we were sure it had turned. Sure enough! But there were other whites available and we find a nice replacement. After deciding on a shrimp ceviche, we waited a bit longer than what I was expecting for a ceviche to take, but when I saw the beautiful presentation that the young lady had done, we realized it was well worth the wait. And the flavors were wonderful! I think I could have stopped after that, my I could tell Dan was still hungry. So we ordered a fish dish to share and, as you can see by the photo, we weren 't disappointed by our selection. We 're thinking of heading back to PVR again next year and this place will definitely be on our 'return ' list. Gracias!
