Prime rib eye steak was very, very good and accompanied by a nice selection of potatoes and vegetables. The lamb tamal was very small and the sweetness of the sauce was an unwelcome surprise. The salad wasn't worth mentioning. Ambience is lovely and service is stellar
I went to Gaviotas to enjoy a dinner with a friend while we were in Puerto Vallarta. We discovered that not only is the food outstanding but that the service is the cornerstone of their success. Mario Mendoza, the manager and mixologist started the show with a traditional cocktail that was just as smooth as the waves off the shore of Vallarta. What came next blew our minds! Chef Oscar used the highest standards of cooking so we could sample the very best of Mexican gastronomy. An edible menu was presented to us, as a prelude of a dinner full of surprises. This menu made of thin wafer was a metaphorical gesture to those moments when hunger has overtaken me and I’ve wanted to eat the pages in my hands while waiting. The surprises didn’t end there! Chef Oscar would come to our table and describe each dish, you could hear the passion when he spoke about his creations. Each course was carefully crafted and paired with a fine Mexican wine. The great connection between Mario and Oscar made the dinner a success story in my book of travels. I won’t go into details of every dish because I want everyone who visits Puerto Vallarta to enjoy this trip through the best ingredients and dishes Mexico has to offer. One thing I will highlight is the digestif Mr. Mendoza created for me with Chicatana ants and Mazapán. It was a piece of art! A chef d'oeuvre that was the perfect touch to end a marvelous dinner. I would like to thank Sinahi, our hostess, for having the table with the best view of the sunset ready for us. Especial thanks to Captain Cueto for his amazing service and to our waiters, Rigoberto, Alfredo, and Luis. You guys are awesome
The service is super slow and the food portions are too small. The price of the food and taste is way too high
