We have eaten whole red snapper in many countries but this restaurant had the very best. This is an open air sidewalk restaurant with an enclosed area if desired. Service was great and the fish was gorgeous and very tasty! This was a real Mexican experience. We also tried their breakfasts and they were very good - non overly spiced but well flavored huevos rancheros. View all feedback.
What Emel Tazegül doesn't like about El Callejon de la Marina:
Overall nice spot with an open air feel. We’re from southern CA so out Mexican standards are high. Food was overall average as compared to SoCal. Had the tacos and tortilla soup. Pastor tocos we’re solid. Pollo and carne were average at best. Chips and...salsa were pretty good. They give you four different kinds of salsa from avocado base to Pico de gallo. Surprised with a free flan dessert after the meal. 5% surchar... View all feedback.
We’ve had breakfast here at least a dozen times over the last two years. The food is okay and the service spotty. We kept returning as we like to support small business. We were warned to check our bill as there was often a mistake...to be found(always in their favor. . We found this to be the case several times last year and they would correct the bill when we pointed it out. Today however the 50 peso overcharged on a 600 peso bill was supposedly “for services”. We told them no as it was not disclosed nor had they charged it two days ago. We did not pay it and won’t be returning. We also noted the omelettes are now two eggs not three. Better breakfasts and value at Mr. Cream and at our hotel.
This is without a doubt one of the best authentic Mexican restaurants in Puerto Vallarta. If you are looking for really good, down-home Mexican food, this is where you have to go. We have been here many times, and have never been disappointed. The food...is delicious, the portions are more than sufficient, the service is amazing and personable, and the price cannot be beat. There is nothing stuffy or pretentious about El Callejon, just an all-round wonderful experience.
Bizzar experience. Been come to pv Club Regina for 30 years. Never tried the local place opposite the resort. We were tired and decided to finally give it a shot. At first, the food was very good. Service was prompt. The coconut yarns and shrimps... tacos were great. The flan was one of the best I ever had. The menu prices looked typical. I never thought to ask the price for the coconut shrimp and Margarita Combo Special of the night. My mistake. Next, the bill, as others have said, was marked. When I confronted the server, he said it was tax. I asked him what the tax is. He said 20%. Numbers have not yet been added. Two coconut shrimps, one shrimp taco dish (3), four drinks and two flan came 120 dollars, including lace. The server was obviously uncomfortable. So I didn't want to punish him. This is average for pv restaurants. Since the restaurant really makes good food out, why would the owner jeopardize his business.
We ordered the 3 tacos, the crispy tacos, a tea and limonada. The bill should have been 355 Pesos. 120, 125, 50 and 60. The food was average and we thought that was a little high for location, quality and service. But when the...Bill came, it was for 470 Pesos and the man stood right at the table and waited for it. We thought it seemed wrong and asked and he said it was a service fee. He explained nothing else and wasn't nice about it. I just thought I'd check so others could be aware.
Every year when we come to Puerto Vallarta we walk down the street to have dinner here. Always excellent service and good food. A large selection of Mexican and seafood on the menu. Good prices.
