I had a good meal here years back. Was a mistake to chose it this time. The fish was so overcooked it had turned to leather. The brie salad, Pondicherry Beach or something it's called, had no brie. And the seafood gumbo soup had nothing but prawns. Spent on a dinner for two. Never had I wasted so much money on such a horror of a dinner. There was a queue outside Coramandal and we chose this. Should have waited there. Don't go on even if your life depended on it.
Hands down the best quail I've ever eaten. It's a difficult meat to cook well and the chef nailed it. It was a beautifully executed dish. Also had the gumbo which had a great blend of Creole flavours. My friends ordered steak which was cooked to the perfect temperature and Creole prawns which was delectable. The crab cakes we ordered as the starter was a bit of a let down the flavour of crab didn't come through. We ordered tiramisu and tarte tatin for dessert. While the tarte was good, it would've been better served with a custard. The tiramisu missed the mark. Overall the dessert menu could be of a higher calibre and in keeping with the excellent tone of the other courses.
What a delightful seafood patter 3 lobsters, 2 fish, some squids with fresh herbs and tomato Bruschettas A full score for this one Also tried the Trian of Mediterranean Vegetables fresh and juicy, aubergines, zucchini, tomatoes, mushrooms, with Herb rice The presentation of the dishes here are superb and of a star quality. The taste here is again completely value for money.
The food and drink were good but that is to be expected at the rate that's being charged. Decor and ambience was relaxed and pretty. However those are the only good things I can say about this place. The staff at the entrance pointed us further down the road when we asked them whether this was Le Dupleix. Got confused and had to circle back in the scorching heat after consulting Google Maps. Service was efficient however it was rather warm inside the dining room. Even after asking the wait staff to decrease the temperature we ate our meal sweating and sweltering. After the rave reviews that I had heard about this place it was a rather disappointing experience.
I wouldn't rate this the best and also bad but its just an overpriced restaurant. We ordered few very simple dishes which were too complicated. The beer wasn't chill enough.the drink we ordered was decent. The brandy infused chkn was decent but the dish that was displayed outside couldn't find it in the menu but was **** expensive and absolutely not worth was 1k. Paid a whoppy 3k and returned dejected.penned arabitta was good The decor and locality was good enuf.
