Le Chateau - Puducherry

As we roamed the streets of Pondicherry, we were hungry and wanted French cuisine. During the hike we came across Le Chateau and as always I looked up his review in Zomato. We settled on a rooftop restaurant and ordered a couple of beers, a fish dish, and a shrimp rice dish. The fish was grilled with some herbs and topped with melted butter. I'm not a huge fan of sea fish as it gives me a peculiar smell, but I have to agree that this was the best sea fish I had in a restaurant. It came with some fries and some vegetables. Best dish I've had in Pondy so far and the best sea fish I've ever tried. Other dishes had some rice with shrimp and vegetables. Rice had a mild coconut and masala flavor that went with it, and with it medium-sized tender shrimp. The food was great, room for improvement in service. The brilliant ambience by the sea and the roof terrace simply leave everything behind. It's just amazing, be it chilling out with some friends or having dinner. What they can do is be a little quick with their service. Still, overall a great place with a nice ambience. Make sure to visit this place when in Pondicherry.

Being for pondicherry for a day sure made me think on where to dine especially to eat something related to the place. The restaurant is really good in terms of service, although there is a scope of improvement. Tge food was amazing and i do wish to try there again. The prawn curry was delicious and i do recommend people visiting tge restaurant to try it. Finally : Ambience 5/5 Service 4/5 Cost 3/5 Taste 5/5

We decided to go to "Le Chateau" restaurant in White Town for lunch on my last day in Pondi on a sunny afternoon. We went straight to the first floor as the ground floor area was pretty normal with no interesting seating. The ambience of the first floor restaurant was good, with a live counter with suitable seating, natural lighting and adequate ventilation. We ordered 2 beef steak and beer for me and Vipin. Finally found someone who likes beef. We also ordered chicken steak, pasta and some wine for the ladies. The food was good, but we were disappointed with the service. It took a long time for the food to arrive even after we asked for the check. They showed us another seat on level two with a far better sea view. Food: 4/5, ambience: 3/5, service: 2/5.

We went here for dinner during Pondicherry. Service was very disappointing, super slow. Since we just wanted to have a drink and a couple of starters, the management yells from the other side and says we only drink upstairs. We go upstairs and it's completely empty. I don't know why, like others, we don't sit in the restaurant and have a drink. Finally we came back and sat there. Ordered Sambuce, with 45 minutes to reach our table. Our food arrived much earlier than our drinks and we are told the bar is downstairs so it takes time. In any case, we got our things at some point. The desserts were very ordinary, everything smelled like eggs. The cheesecake was like caramel pudding. Had no taste at all. The bruschetta in the mashroom was ok, creamy and cheesy, the shrimp was like a '65 masala. Nothing fantastic. Overall, it wasn't good food, service, or food.
