Windmill Hotel
Description
The Windmill Hotel has recently undergone renovations, resulting in a new menu with higher prices. Some patrons have found the service lacking and the food disappointing. However, others have enjoyed the fresh food, pleasant staff, and clean environment. The pub offers live music, sports screenings, and a nice beer garden. While opinions are mixed, it seems the changes in staff have improved the overall experience at the Windmill Hotel. Beware of misleading advertising. When I looked online the Friday special of a Texas T bone looked tempting. The photo showed a large steak with salad, chips and sauce in a small bowl on the plate for $20. When I ordered I asked for my steak to be rare and my partner’s medium rare. I was told they only cook them medium. When I questioned why, the reply was because they cook 400/day! When the food came there was no sauce. I went to the bar to ask for sauce and was told that it would cost $4.00. I said that the on line advertisement showed the sauce on the plate with a price tag of $20. I was told that it also says T&Cs apply! The steak was cooked more than medium in my opinion- dry and a little tough.
I recently dined at the Windmill Hotel in Prospect, South Australia, and was thoroughly impressed. The establishment offers a variety of inviting spaces, including a traditional dining area, a cozy beer garden, and a front bar. The menu caters to diverse tastes, and my chicken schnitzel was cooked to perfection—crispy outside and tender inside. The accompanying mushroom gravy was rich and flavorful. The service was outstanding; staff members were friendly and attentive, ensuring a pleasant dining experience. The ambiance is both modern and welcoming, enhanced by recent renovations. In summary, the Windmill Hotel excels in delivering delicious food, excellent service, and a warm atmosphere. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a memorable dining experience in Prospect.
Arrived Fri evening, at time of booking and no one was available to show us our table. Approached a staff and was told to go in the food order queue. Staff at register was choosing to serve customers behind us first without explanation or eye contact given to us. When she finally allowed us to order, she was very rude condescending. Started the greeting with “now, what is happening here?”. This sort of service is appalling. Pity that, cause the food was not too bad.
