Kroger - Prospect
Kroger
Description
Nestled in the neighborhood, this Kroger blends friendly service and a strong produce selection with frustrating operational flaws. Shoppers praise helpful staff, tidy aisles, and a compact layout that makes produce shopping easy, but frequent stock gaps, confusing shelf moves, slow or unfulfilled pickup orders, and higher prices dent the experience. Inconsistent bagging practices (plastic used despite requests), occasional rude encounters, and understaffing during busy times are recurring complaints. When it runs well it’s efficient and well-stocked; when it doesn’t, inventory and pickup mismanagement undermine convenience.

Overall a clean and well-stocked business. Friendly staff. Prices are slightly higher than other Krogers and not enough employees. A cash lane open at a busy time and heard workers say they had several call-ins. (9 people standing behind me). I once tried the pick-up islands (if I was quadrupled by the Kovid exposure) for some birthday cupcakes I ordered (1 item) a week ago and was told after waiting 45 minutes after my pick-up time that they were still looking for items in my shopping cart. Sorry, the cupcakes were made this morning. They also slowly got cleaning supplies like Kaboom back in their shelves. Fruits and vegetables are always fresh... not the Cantaloupe. And they run from Ooidios yogurt when it comes to sale. Use the sushi to be good, but recently they only make boiled sushi covered with fried onions or crab mixed with Mayo. I call the sushi for people who don't like real sushi. About once a month they change the shelves and I can't find what I'm looking for. You like to hide things so I can find more what I really want. Other than that. I really like this crotch.
The Kroger pickup is a great idea, very convenient. But, the training needs to be done better because often the items that are not available can be found in the store after I pick up! And the substitutions can be ridiculous. I ordered sunflower seeds and received sugar coated sliced almonds for example. But my biggest complaint is the use of plastic bags. Even when I put a note on every item saying, no plastic bags please, half the time my request is unheeded. We try to avoid unnecessary plastic in our family and it just drives me crazy that Kroger still bags with plastic at all.
This Prospect Kroger is fantastic! The staff is incredibly friendly and always willing to help. It's also not excessively large, which makes it easy to find everything you need without having to walk an endless distance. We're fortunate to have it in our area! Great job!
