That's the best pig I've ever eaten. No luxury, but incredible food and service. I always take it to go, and I make sure everyone who visits me has the opportunity. to taste this extraordinary food.

This stand at Mercado is a great experience for someone who likes roasted meat. Cochinita is a court where the Yucatecas are excellent, and this place probably makes it better than anyone. Do not expect the really low prices you see in the Taco joints, even large portions. But the taste is something I have never experienced before.

I love to eat local and eat cheap. This marketplace is a wonderland of fresh fruits and veg, fresh juices, vendors selling all sorts of wares and the best breakfast or lunch in town. Select your meal from any number of vendors from soup to torta to tacos to salbutes. It's all good. It's all fresh. It's all inexpensive and best of all, it's all served with love and a smile. Great experience!

Came in on a cruise ship and wanted to explore Progreso. The Mercado was pointed out as one of the places to see if you had time. First the Mercado is fantastic to see because if you wanted to purchase really fresh protein it is available. If you want to purchase fruit, vegetables or flowers that were on the plant that morning or yesterday it is available. Then down the middle are two rows of eateries and juice bars. Everyone sits on picnic tables in the middle. Conversation ensues and friendships are made. I had the best chicarrones I have ever had in my lifetime from a saleswoman on the protein side. Couple them with a fresh avocado and a seafood taco, life doesn't get much better.
