What Janine van der Nest doesn't like about Hake Away:
We ordered 3 large chips with hake. It was just before they were about to close. The chips were 60% burnt bits that I suppose gathered overwhelming course of the day. We had to dig through it to find a few whole chips in between. The hake was fine. Very disappointing as they came highly recommended. Arguably the best fish and chips I've ever had! The hake was exceptionally fresh, boasting a crispy exterior and a soft, moist interior. The crumbed prawns were another standout. We ended up ordering too much, unaware of the generous portion sizes, especially the chips. Although they were out of calamari during our visit, I appreciated their commitment to serving only the freshest seafood. Unlike other places that might sacrifice quality by serving frozen alternatives, this joint stays true to its values. That authenticity makes it truly special. I'm definitely looking forward to my next visit!
