This Italian restaurant is truly fantastic, with one of the best views in the city. The service was excellent and I highly recommend trying the meatballs and lasagna - you won't be disappointed! The portions are generous and the flavors are delicious. This restaurant should definitely be on your list to visit. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Gondola Drive-In:
The rumor on the street was that this place had the best burgers in town, I brought my family to this restaurant and spent a small fortune on dinner, the burgers were very plain, nothing to write home about, very small servings we had to go eat somewhere else after. Very nice view of the harbour but that is it. View all feedback.
Buddies and I always hit this place when I am in town visiting. Brings me back to my youth. Homemade burgers from in house cut meat, just like they have always done.
I love old style eateries and stumbled across the Gondola Drive-In quite unintentionally. I mean, I've always known the Drive-In was here, but didn't know it was actually still in use. That is, until just a few months ago when I pulled in with the intent of turning around. I stopped momentarily to check something in my vehicle. In that brief window of time, a server came up and asked if I wanted to order anything. I didn't order anything at the time because I'd just eaten, but the light went off and I thought, "Hmmm...this would be a cool place to bring the grandparents one day"! And so I did just a couple of weeks ago.I pulled up to the Drive-In with my grandparents and we ordered some food: shrimp with fries; one piece cod and chips; a cheeseburger, milkshake and sodas. Service was prompt and friendly. We loved having our food brought out to us on a tray, which was then attached to the drivers-side window. Total time warp! As for the food, it was ample! The shrimp and fries were excellent, as was the fish and chips. Unfortunately, I was a bit disappointed by the burger because it was bland and skinnier than a McDonald's cheeseburger. Oh well. The highlight, at least for the grandparents, was the strawberry milkshake -- it was thick, rich and creamy, just like they used to be made back in the day.I'm giving the Gondola Drive-In a 5-star rating mostly because of the retro experience they offer. This stop gave my grandparents a chance to reminisce since, believe it or not, they did visit this exact Drive-In some 50 years ago when it first opened. You just can't put a price on such memories! In short, this was a thoroughly enjoyable experience.FOOD: 3/5SERVICE: 4/5VALUE: 5/5RECOMMENDATION: Drive-Ins are a rarity these days, so it's a wonderful surprise to see one still functioning in Prince Rupert with (presumably) its original menu. I recommend checking this place out, even if just once for the experience.
This restaurant is a family restaurant. Reminds me of the 70's. The food is amazing, large portions. Service is excellent, The prices are reasonable.
I can't imagine how many times we've been to the Gondola Drive-In over the years but although it's showing it's age, they still have delicious burgers and by far, the best and thickest milkshakes in the area! They're almost a meal in itself.
This is great just like the 50"s style drive up and they come to get your order and bring it out on a tray and the Burgers are Delicious
