This sports bar has everything you expect. Various games on the tv screens, great beer and high quality cheap food. The service was exquisite - always present when needed, but never too much. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Don Cherry's Sports Grill:
Baked lasagne without melty cheese is just a sin against God and man. that. and. it wasn't very good- scattered bits of shredded cold mozza aside. Our server was fantastic, but oh man! The food was GRIM! Neat to see the Don Cherry memorabilia, but that couldn't save this place. Might be nice for the patio in summer on a sunny day with a cocktail in the hand, but then you aren't coming here for the food! View all feedback.
I've been to don cherry's a few times a month for the past couple of years. In the past month or so they've changed the menu and prices. Maybe this change is something the kitchen is having a hard time adjusting to because I haven't had a decent meal there since. The food is awful; had nachos with barely any cheese and not melted at all, had stir fry with chicken that tasted like freezer burn, had chicken wings with the wrong sauce on them and appeared undercooked. Don't bother telling them how you'd like your steak cooked because it's always over done. My friend ordered a burger with no mushroom and sure enough his burger comes out loaded with mushrooms. And the worst part is they can never get your tables meals ready at the same time. And I don't mean big tables, I mean 3 or 4 people. So the first person who gets their food is finished their meal by the time the last person is starting to eat. I'm sad to have to write a bad review of this place because I used to really enjoy going there but after having so many bad experiences in a row, I'm not sure I can give them any more chances. The servers are so amazing, they try so hard, they are so kind and I almost feel sorry for them as you can see they can only do so much while the kitchen crumbles around them. Truly hoping for improvement in the food.
After coming here for mere snacks over the last few months (nachos,) I finally came to have an actual meal. I felt compelled to do so after frequenting The Hub bar just down the road. Now, The Hub, for those of you who don't know, advertises that they have the "best wings in the North." That's a pretty tall order and I'm not entirely sure it's true but, after finally having some of the wings at Don Cherry's I can say, without hesitation, that The Hub definitely has the best wings in Rupert. But this isn't a review of The Hub, so lets get down to business. . .Don Cherry's, as I mentioned in an earlier review, is located in Chances casino, so the atmosphere is usually pretty lively -- with gamers and people who are probably a little too intoxicated attempting to watch various sporting events on relatively small flat screen TVs several feet away. I think this place holds the record for flat screen TVs in a single establishment -- at least in Prince Rupert. You are literally surrounded by them. Some are singular while others are linked together to show a sporting event on multiple screens. I think the set-up of the TVs could potentially cause one to have an epileptic seizure. . .but, hey, that's the nature of a modern sports bar, I guess: TVs -- and lots of them. More than is necessary. On the other hand, perhaps the relatively brightly lit atmosphere and loud surroundings is very much a metaphor for the man advertised on the menu, TVs and the walls: Don Cherry himself. It doesn't seem to be too much of a stretch. Most of the food, I think, is a bit overpriced for the quality you receive. I didn't bother with any of the burgers $(14 on average,) but did order the french onion soup, a skewer of prawns and their apparently famous wings (buffalo and salt/pepper.) The soup was a disaster: overly salty and overloaded with bread; the prawn skewer was passable, but nothing one couldn't just do at home for a fraction of the cost; and the chicken wings were probably the biggest letdown of the night. Don Cherry's advertises a multitude of sauces on the first page of its clunky menu, but if you can't even get a standard buffalo wing right, why bother with other flavours? These wings -- even the sauced up buffalo ones -- were dry and over-cooked.In short, while I may have praised Don Cherry's nearly a year ago for their nachos, their actual meal-type foods leave much to be desired. It's pricey for what you get; the service is mediocre; and I am left with the sense that it is strictly Don Cherry cashing in on name value.FOOD: 2/5SERVICE: 2.5/5VALUE: 2/5RECOMMENDATION: Come for nachos and drinks, but avoid everything else. For GOOD wings, go to The Hub.

This is a typical sports bar with multiple large TV screens. Tends to be quite noisy as you have to walk through a slot/VLT area before you get to the bar. Food was pretty poor/average and service was slow and not that friendly. Okay for a few beers and watch a game.
Excellent large screen tv''s and 2 fireplace. Onion soup had no taste. Beef dip was good. Service was slow, pub was not busy.
