The food was okay but it depends on what you order. I had the steak and it was cooked perfectly to order. My sister ordered chicken and dumplings and it looked like it had been made hours earlier. The presentation of the food on her plate looked like there was zero effort to make it look appetizing. What Hello doesn't like about Cracker Barrel Old Country Store:
I ordered the Grandma's Sampler, which usually includes bacon, sausage, ham, 2 eggs, 2 pancakes, and a choice of hashbrown casserole or fried apples, but I only had it with bacon. Unfortunately, the eggs were overcooked and the whites were rubbery (see photo) and quickly turned cold after being served. I couldn’t eat most of the eggs. I haven't visited in a while, but as a chef, I think there are a few things that could use some updates.
Everything was great! The only issue was that we visited the day after Christmas, and they were out of a few items.
Great tasting food, reasonable prices, excellent antique atmosphere. Wonderful place to shop, dine and recover from a busy life.
