I recently returned from a trip to Prague and stayed at the Andels hotel, which is located 200 meters from the Joto hotel. Right in front of the hotel's entrance, I discovered a restaurant on my first night that I ended up visiting multiple times during my stay. The atmosphere is very Czech, with no tourists in sight. The waiters were pleasant, although some of them had a bit of a reserved demeanor. Most of them could speak English, which was helpful. There was no menu in Spanish, but they had one in English that was sufficient for understanding. The restaurant serves typical Czech dishes with generous portions at a great value. I highly recommend trying their delicious black Kozel beer, which cost 28 crowns for a half-liter. We dined there multiple times and the average price per person never exceeded 8 euros. They politely suggested leaving a tip, but unlike other restaurants, they didn't add a service charge or pressure you to tip when paying the bill. If you're looking for an affordable Czech dining experience away from the touristy areas, this is the perfect place. The restaurant also has a spacious outdoor patio with plenty of seating, as well as two dining rooms. The ground floor dining room has an interesting old winery vibe that adds to the overall charm of the place.

The service lacked a bit, but it's worth it. The food is very authentic to the region and it's a very unique spot.

Our first culinary outing in Prague was very nice overall. After being growled at by the barman for trying to seat ourselves at some tables outside that were perhaps reserved, we decided to sit indoors. Our waiter spoke good English and was amiable, helpful, and really quick! He brought us a basket of sliced bread that was way too much for two, and I had to ask for some butter to go with it, but the bread was really good, and threatened to spoil my appetite for dinner. We ordered a glass of dry white and a pilsener beer for me. Both were pretty good and it's taking some time to get used to the size of the heads on beers here in Europe. The half litre looked half empty, but settled down into a decent glass. For entrees we enjoyed the portabello mushrooms with pine nuts and spinach, and the Norwegian salmon tartare. Both were great, and the mushrooms were really sensational! Mrs Kiwi chef ordered the pork flank, which came with a salad, coleslaw and some chillis and spring onions in oil. The pork was nicely cooked, but seemed to lack some real flavor. My chicken stuffed with spinach was much tastier and the fried goat's cheese was delish!!

Great service from a guy who seemed to be the only one working the bar and the tables so I give him credit. We just stopped in for a quick lunch and decided to get the tartar and some dill soup and pivo of course. The tartar was good but the soup was definitely the star of the show. The soup was so deliciously dilly and garlicky. It was very smooth. I was a big fan of the soft egg on top and when you mixed in the yolk it was perfect. Head there for a soup if you're near Andel.

Vari docela ok, ale davaji male porce! (poledni menu). Obsluha docela rychla. Dishes taste ok, but they give small portions (lunch menu). Servis reasonably fast.
