Chaddar's - Prague
Chaddar's
Description
Nestled in a converted gas station on Main Street in Prague, this longtime local favorite serves hearty, nostalgic comfort food—hand-cut fries, catfish with hush puppies, chunk chicken and burgers—made from original recipes. Diners applaud the warm, family-style atmosphere, spotless dining areas and quick, friendly service at times, and its community roots. However, visitors report inconsistent cooking and service, occasional overcooked items, unclear menu pricing and limited allergy-friendly options, so expect delicious classics but some variability.

I love the food but not the service. We have lots of problems with our order being wrong. But today even the food was bad. Today we placed a to go order of 3 chunk chicken baskets, a catfish dinner and a bacon cheese burger with fries. When we got home with our meal the only thing edible was the burger and fish. The chunk chicken was so over cooked it was like a rock and the hush puppies in the fish dinner were so over cooked they were black in color. We use to eat at Chaddars a couple of times a week but seldom do anymore. This was probably our visit.
We found Chadders on Yelp and decided to give it a try for a late lunch on a Sunday afternoon, and it did not disappoint. The restaurant is located in an old gas station on Main Street, which adds to its fun and casual atmosphere. Despite a large group occupying three other tables, our server was attentive, and our food was served quickly. I ordered the catfish basket, which came with homemade hush puppies, tartar sauce, and hand-cut French fries. It was some of the best catfish I've ever had—light, flaky, and not greasy or overly breaded. My husband took our server's suggestion and got the chicken chunk basket. It was fantastic! The chicken was tender, juicy, and bursting with flavor, and I can't even begin to describe how incredible the soft rolls that came with both meals were. It was definitely worth the 20-minute drive! We'll definitely be returning.
For the past 20 years, Chaddar's has been the most popular restaurant in Prague! It consistently serves not only its loyal local patrons but also visitors from nearby cities. Make sure to stop by for a homemade meal the next time you're in town!
I dined there once, and while the salad was fresh and delicious, my experience was marred by the poor service. The waitress was quite rude, as if I was to blame for her unpleasant demeanor. Additionally, the coffee was quite bad; it could really use some salt in the grounds to reduce the bitterness. I don't think I'll be going back. Even if the food is exceptional, I can’t overlook being treated poorly, and I won’t be returning as a customer.
