Feedback
At Howard's Restaurant, experiences vary widely, reflecting its unique charm and challenges. While many diners rave about the delicious, locally sourced ingredients and recommend breakfast as a standout meal at a reasonable price, others express frustration over long wait times and inconsistent food quality. Issues like missing dishes, bland flavors, and unwieldy portion sizes have tarnished some visits, alongside a peculiar ordering system that can lead to delays. Overall, Howard's maintains a loyal following due to its friendly staff and quality dishes, but it seems to be a hit-or-miss destination for many food enthusiasts.
Good Service, Reasonably Priced. Very busy, but tables were kept clean. Coffee and Walnut Cake was excellent.
We visited the garden centre today which was amazing, then we decided to have some lunch in the café. When we got there and went to order we were told the wait time for the food would be around 20 minutes, which was alright with us. However, we ended up waiting near to an hour for our food as they had to cook the quiche fresh, at the point of ordering we were not told this at all! And when they only brought us 3 out of 4 dishes, the waitress told us that someone had dropped the quiche on the floor! Needless to say I wasn’t very happy at all after waiting an hour to eat and ending up not having anything at all!! One of my family members had the curry but it was extremely bland and tasteless! Highly disappointed today.
Fish and chips awful nice batter but where had the fish gone?! Most of the chips were little scrappy bits and inedible Previous visit had steak pie and as mentioned elsewhere they couldn’t make worse pastry if they had tried Ordered food just before 12 . It arrived after 12.30 Will not eat here again
I went for lunch today at this restaurant. The food was delicious as usual, although I thought the portion sizes were too big. Some of the chips in all four meals were too large and ended up being left uneaten. The ordering system at the counter is a bit strange, as they also handle people's hot drinks, leading to a long queue. We waited for 45 minutes for our food after placing our order. It could be more efficient.
On Saturday, the 22nd, after finishing our shopping, we decided to stop by the cafe for some tea and cake. The chocolate gateau looked impressive, but unfortunately it was terrible. It was extremely dry, almost like compact sawdust, and the filling was a weak mixture of unknown ingredients with a hint of salt. One bite was enough to know we wouldn't be dining there again. The food was subpar and the prices were high.
