One of the best Asian restaurants in the center of Ohio. We make it to China Bistro at least once a month for high quality authentic dishes. In my opinion, Columbus's journey is also worth it. I would recommend to visitors if possible to try authentic dishes, you will not regret your decision, and it could even change your perspective on Asian food (if not unusual) as I know for myself. Frozen tofu and cabbage soup,... View all feedback.
What Casey Lockman doesn't like about China Bistro:
have no idea about why there are all those good reviews. I'd rather eat instance noodle at home. ordered two dishes, both came out as salty modified Chinese dishes. Wow, unbelievable. View all feedback.
I'm from northeastern China. Having food here is the same as going home and enjoying the cook from my mother. Vert authentic Chinese food.
The food here is WELL worth the money. Considering the part of town it's in, I would have expected much higher prices. I was pleasantly surprised to get a larger than average portion of food for about half the price of what other places in the area charge. I got Crab Rangoon and the Kung Pao Chicken w/ Fried Rice. The Crab Rangoon was pretty good I could actually see crab meat! The fried rice is a little different but I really enjoyed it; bigger pieces of egg, not as greasy as others, and the bean sprouts and scallions were a nice addition. The Kung Pao Chicken was made with (what looked like) jalapeños which made me skeptical at first but it ended up being some of the best Kung Pao I've had; the vegetables were crisp, the sauce was perfect, and the dish was sufficiently spicy! Once again, portion size was very generous considering it was only like $5 6. Others in my family got Sesame Chicken and Pepper Steak. The carry out order was ready within 15 minutes, the lady who handled the order seemed very friendly and outgoing (rare for Chinese restaurants in my experience). Overall, I've heard that this restaurant is more of an authentic take on Northeastern Chinese cuisine. I personally enjoyed it very much, but those who are less adventurous and want more Americanized fare might think it's just OK. The prices are very low compared to other places in the area, but the portion size is definitely generous. I will definitely be going back for more!
It's a place with very little put into the maintenance, and while this may not have much to do with the food itself, it began the question of how well they are maintaining their cooking place and utensils. The service is at best below average. The lady was curt and impatient when taking the order because I couldn't understand her accent, and she had to repeat a couple of times. When I went here they weren't serving any deep fried chicken dishes which is what I usually order(like general tso's chicken). The food itself was OK, nothing impressive but OK, earning a star(ordered moo goo gai pan with brown sauce). I would recommend other nearby places with better service.
I have gotten food from here in the past and enjoyed it but I just tried to place an order with Door Dash and it was immediately cancelled. Why have a delivery option and allow customers to go all the way through placing an order just to immediately cancel it because you are too busy. Sorry, but I have never seen this place too busy. Deactivate the option of placing an order if you are just going to cancel them.
