During a recent visit to my hometown... read more I have never had better Thai food, and I eat it frequently. It surpassed even my favorite local spot, Sabai Thai in Sidney! During a recent visit to my hometown, we dined at Thaidal Zone (love the name!). Four of us tried the mixed seafood special. The dishes were prepared individually, so they did not all arrive at the table at once, but service was prompt. Each ingredient was cooked to perfection, with vegetables retaining just the right amount of crunch. The variety of fresh seafood was expertly prepared, and the sauce was truly outstanding. I opted for a mild spice level, which offered just the right amount of heat with a lingering flavor. The meal was so satisfying that I couldn't bear to spoil it with dessert, instead choosing to save the leftovers for lunch the next day. I highly recommend dining at Thaidal Zone when in Powell River!

I had the Tom Ka Talay Hot and sour soup with mixed seafood, mixed veggies, and galangal in coconut milk soup. Holy hell was this good! I asked for medium, and got a perfect medium. Spicy enough that I could feel it tingling on my tongue and lips, but not so hot that it blocked the amazing flavors underneath. Usually when I get mixed seafood it 's a pittance. Not here though. Oysters, prawns, squid, baby octopus (or baby squid? I 'm not sure the difference, scallops. Delicious and fresh, definitely not frozen. To die for. Every time I come through Powell River I eat here! Massive portions. I 've never been able to finish it all!

This dish is unique to Canada in my opinion, and it was incredibly delicious. While the fresh spring rolls were a bit bland, the red curry and seafood platter (featuring mussels, shrimp, and calamari) were all quite tasty.
