Great barbecue in Poway, located next to Old Poway Park and the Poway Midland Railroad. The highlights of the meal were the brisket, ribs, and macaroni and cheese. Since it's situated near the park, the parking lot is quite spacious in the evening. View all feedback.
What User dislikes about Smokin J's Bbq:
Their service has been deteriorating significantly during the recent past. For example, in the last couple of weeks, I placed online orders a few hours ahead of the pickup time. When I arrived there, the following happened: The order wasn't ready and I waited 20 30 minutes in the store, each time. Each time, they had run out of ribs (even though I placed my order well ahead of time). They replaced ribs with pulled po... View all feedback.

This classic sandwich is quite substantial for dinner and absolutely delicious. The restaurant is situated in the charming, nostalgic old town of Poway Park. The surroundings have a charmingly vintage vibe, with a lovely view of the tree-lined road. The customer service was also excellent.
There's a reason people come here to get Brisket or burned ends through the pound. The food is phenomenal. Loaded frits with brisket... her smoked chicken, bean crack... is fantastic. On rare occasions, they do special items such as roasted chicken wings (personally loving them sat with buffalo, so make sure you catch them when they are offered). Customer service is great. Total fantastic experience. Visit and you will not be disappointed.
It was a nice little place in the old town of Poway. We found it by maps and bbq places. We loved the view of the menu and decided to go. The prices were pretty reasonable. We ordered a 3x3 and a grilled cheese. The food was good. My friend had the 3x3 and liked the pulled pig the best. The beans were very good, but the Mac and the cheese seemed to have been crowned. Only cereals and not very pleasant to eat. The chicken was juicy and tasteful. So overall a good place for. BBQ Stop. If you drive through the street, it would be a good place to stop.
This restaurant is undoubtedly one of the top five barbecue spots in San Diego. They truly know how to smoke their meat rather than just slapping on barbecue sauce like many other places do. The brisket here is the best I've had outside of Texas, and the beans are also fantastic. I can't wait to return and sample more of their other meats!

It’s absolutely amazing! I've been on the hunt for a great BBQ spot, and I finally found it. I ordered the brisket and pork belly sandwich, and it was delicious. My husband tried the pulled pork mac and cheese with BBQ beans, which he loved too. They also offer a selection of local beers and unique sodas. We had so much food left over that we were able to enjoy a midnight snack! We will definitely be returning.
The food was decent, but certainly not worth $17 for a small sandwich. The portions were on the smaller side and left me feeling unsatisfied. Plus, it didn't come with a side, which was disappointing. There were also a lot of flies buzzing around. On a positive note, the beer on tap was refreshing, though a bit watery. The staff were friendly, which was a nice touch.
Wow, Smokin’ J’s is absolutely fantastic! I almost want to keep it a secret for myself, but I really want others to experience how amazing the BBQ is. The pulled pork, chicken, and ribs were all outstanding. I can’t wait to try the brisket next!
My wife found this place on a Google search and we decided to try it out. Other than the flies that are hanging around outside this place is great! Good food with fair prices.
The food is fantastic. We got the pulled pork, pork belly, mac n cheese, and Cajun fries. All incredibly flavorful, smoky, and rich. Only issue we had was that the restaurant was out of almost everything. Including the chicken! My wife and I wanted to order ribs but they ran out literally right as we got to the register. It wasnt even late either. Bummer. But I digress, this is a fantastic bbq joint that's worth every penny.
