First the good news: They offer rooms. The bad news is everything else. Breakfast is 10€ per person and it is mediocre at best. The coffee was perhaps an hommage to the imitation coffees of German WWI soldiers. Little to no vegetarian or vegan options. Not worth it. The rooms were OK, very old bathroom and not as clean as I would like. You can definitely hear your neighbours and the street in your rooms and no mosquito nets either. No AC either so prepare to get sweaty in the summer. Staff was not friendly or warm but not offensive either. Payment is either in Cash or ONLY with EC which is a great inconvenience.
Since the city of Pottenstein does not have too many options to eat, we also visited here. The expectations were not too high thanks to the previous reviews. The service was quite Franconian in style, although handed over by a non-Franconian. But I guess you have to adapt to the environment. The menu sports typical local dishes, as well as some Bohemian also. Unfortunately, the selection of tap beer is limited to a non-very-local larger brewery and a Bohemian beer. The food was okay, but small adjustments would make it good. All in all, given the prices, this is an option to consider in the city. On an absolute scale there is some room for improvement.
We were in the Pottensteiner Stuben for three days. The rooms were upstairs! Clean and the beds very comfortable! Only host is very unfriendly! Eatable, but there was not much on the map. Breakfast was very good! As a guest house of breakfast, you are sure that you do not care about the availability of the host!
Top regional menu that made appetite. Inside the charm of the sixties and probably not renovated ever since. Don't be bad, it was full. The table, on the other hand, was not removed from the guests' courts and no order was received. If we are after approx. We went 20 minutes, but we were still kindly accepted. Famous?
From 31.07. until 03.08.2013 we spent a very nice and exciting time in Pottenstein and in the beautiful surroundings. As a “new” we were very pleasantly surprised by the town of Pottenstein and had the great torment of choice, in which restaurant we will return now. Variety without visible end and a guest house more beautiful than the other. We decided twice for the “Pottensteiner Stuben” (formerly “Tucher Stuben”), because we just liked everything all around. Fortunately, we both have a 2 table in the courtyard. There it was very cozy and pleasantly tempered, although the thermometer showed over 30°C on the day. The waiter from Pilsen is very commendable. Ruck Zuck stood the ordered drinks and dishes on the table. The “Veldensteiner Bier” (French speciality, the “filled potato buffer” (Böhmische Spezialität and the “Schaumomelett mit Pfifferlingen” (seasonal speciality have convinced us – everything from the finest and highest quality – and above all a cost-effective matter. The filling of the buffers was excellent – we didn't even know that potato buffers can taste so well with filling – just like the oily all ingredients simply and simply – just everything super!!! In words and photos it is difficult to convey this wonderful taste directly, but would like to give the recommendation: even there to enjoy the delicious dishes and the delicious beer – you will not regret it!
