this is a nice hotel. friendly and professional staff. rooms are comfy and showers are pleasant. breakfast is 10x better than any other hotel food. 2 types of omelette are awesome. very well stocked food items , fresh bakes biscuits and passion fruit juice are delicious. i broke 1 star down because tv channel selection is poor. only 50 channels and not much choices. if that is upgraded , you got an amazing stay. pool... What User doesn't like about Holiday Inn Express Suites Poteau, An Ihg:
Probably one of the worst Holiday Inn Hotels we've stayed at. No pool, no hot tub since 2020 and they are not fixing it. The best part was the friendly breakfast lady and the honest front desk person who told us about the amenities.Rooms: 3/5 View all feedback.

The receptionist in the evening was friendly and welcoming, the lobby was updated and fresh, the room was clean, the beds were very comfortable. Breakfast was the standard fare, but was well stocked. (Pancakes, not waffles, but that certainly is not a game changer, except to our teenager : ! Lots of good choices in this town for dining. This is an excellent choice for lodging while in Poteau.
The elevator at this hotel is so slow. You could literally live a patiently full life from beginning to end before the elavator is on your floor....it's only a 4 floor hotel, yet takes (and I've timed it)..10 mins..Rooms: 1/5
We arrived late, thankfully. Upon walking in, we were hit with a pretty potent perfumed smell. It was clear upon getting to the elevator then 2nd floor why, the level of musty even for a humid location was overwhelming. Even the bedroom was overwhelming and just shy of unbearable. It was as if the a/c filters have never been changed. If it wasn 't so late we may not have stayed.Room was clean in the sense of beds and towels/bathroom. Carpet throughout the whole place was really bad, smell included.Breakfast was ok at best. Juices seemed way watered down and one stated it contained Stevia, seemed like they all did. Only syrup available was sugar-free. While that may not bother most people, I can 't have artificial sweeteners. When we asked about regular syrup it was like we were asking about a foreign substance. They had to ask a manager which was really odd that the breakfast staff had no clue.Overall, 2/5 would not recommend or stay again. We planned to quickly get up and make our exit as fast as possible.FYI- pool is still out of service and looks like they have zero intention of ever reopening it.Rooms: Extremely musty everywhere. Shower caulking was black in many spots with mold. Air filters desperately needed changed.Noteworthy details: Elevator seems to be on its last leg, we just took the stairs when not lugging suitcases.
I found what I believe to be a BEDBUG on my bed sheet where I had just slept, after coming back in from my shower. This place actually seems pretty clean when you arrive and the rooms are in good shape. The bed was very uncomfortable for me and I had trouble sleeping. The staff is very helpful and personable.Rooms: 1/5
