What User likes about The Old Customs House:
what a great pub in the middle of gunwharf. excellent selection of behave a fullers in the possession ( try the ipa and esb) and the eating is proper pub grub at a reasonable price. great atmosphere and beautiful chesterfield lounges to sit on the staff very friendly. recommended View all feedback. What User doesn't like about The Old Customs House:
Lovely location down in the Wharf. Sun is out and nice and mellow. OK why a 3star review. No real guidance on what to do when you get to the door. Do you sit down order or head to the bar and shown a table. At the Min door there is a table as a arrival reception but no help. Staff a little unhelpful, however the food arrived fast. A plus. As for the state of the food, it was good. Would we return, yes we would. View all feedback.

The old custom house portsmouth is a fabulous place to grab some beer and find some tasty food
Beautiful opposite. great view of the bay and the place is only charming. many restaurants, bars and shops here. we brought a large team of around 20.
I've come here before because I had a good service, so not sure what happened today. 1 hour between the time we ordered and our food arrived. 2 frying dinners.
Quite a regales building, this spent a few hours here with the youngs during the company retreat; more cozy place to grab a few. their pinned eggs are closed.

read moreNestled by the port in Portsmouth, The Old Customs House offers an inviting atmosphere perfect for drinks, yet its dining experience leaves much to be desired. While the location and historic charm shine through, diners report inconsistent food quality, with dishes often diverging from descriptions. Complaints include overcooked shrimp, burnt steaks, and dishes lacking flavor or proper preparation. Service appears rushed and inattentive, detracting from the experience. However, those looking for a casual drink can enjoy a solid selection of beers and gins in a cozy setting, making it a suitable spot for a leisurely outing rather than a fine dining destination.
