Venue had a live singer, she was ok but way to loud and you couldn’t have a conversation without shouting. Food was nice especially my steak, however my steak was a little too rare in the middle for my liking. After my meal I wanted to order desert but was told they had stopped serving food, this was around 9.15pm!! View all feedback.
What Qype User (cdnbil… doesn't like about Dolphin Portsmouth:
I attended this establishment with my work colleagues for our Xmas lunch. The three course meal was £20. My appraisal of the first two courses were: lamentable lamentable. I would not recommend this place to any person we did not leave a tip. If you want an analogy; try a hot dog stand where the tender does not wash his/her hands! View all feedback.
Agree good sunday lunch, nice area and nice pub to visit. you can walk around old portsmouth and walk of your sunday lunch with the fresh sea air. It attracts a nice crowd of people.
Office Christmas Lunch 3 courses for £22.00, starter was chicken skewers, sauce a bit bland, main was a good amount of turkey, 3 huge roasters, carrots, parsnip which weren't crispy, 1 Brussels sprout, a stuffing terrine, lovely sweet sauce, pud was a winter berry brûlée however no crispy top, but lovely none the less. Main course had a bit of a wait for a pork dish at our table, saying that for the numbers good service. Drinks on the expensive side, however the South African white wine was reasonable I thought at £13. They do a Doggie menu for poochie friends. Professional, friendly Staff, not from the area member of Staff dialled Taxi firm on my mobile, thanks
When I was at Uni in Portsmouth 1997 2001 this was one of my regular haunts. I went back to this place in Nov 08 and oh my it had changed it was alot nicer than i remembered but also seemed to be a lot more upmarket than i remembered. Having said that I did have the most delicious sausage and mash and the most georgeous pint of local real ale. Only problem was they ran out and the next choice wasnt as good. Friendly staff, really helpful and welcoming
Good food, reasonably priced. Nice atmosphere bar staff maybe a little un welcoming at times?!?
Great pub reputed to be Portsmouths oldest. Good selection of ales and traditional fayre. Nice beer garden at rear, which is very popular in the good weather.
