While some guests rave about the delightful high tea experience, complete with fresh sandwiches, scones, and lovely pastries, others express disappointment in service and quality. Reports of stale scones and lackluster sandwiches have dampened enthusiasm for afternoon tea, and organization issues have led to frustrating waits. Yet, attentive staff and the option to take leftovers home provide a semblance of redemption. Ultimately, the restaurant's allure remains centered on its panoramic vistas, making it a mixed bag of culinary highs and lows.
I visited the restaurant by myself one afternoon. The two women working there were unwelcoming and not accommodating. I decided not to make a purchase and do not recommend this restaurant.
The views from the restaurant were amazing. I had high tea there and it was excellent - the food was delicious and there was plenty of it. The staff were attentive and efficient. I highly recommend this place for a special treat.
I found the entire experience at the Spinnaker Tower to be a bit tired and shabby, but thankfully the views were good. I used a Virgin Experience voucher (which I wouldn't purchase again), and booked a High Tea. I was not impressed with how the organization was handled - we had to wait for everyone to gather on the viewing deck, then wait for the lift, and then wait to be seated. The high tea itself looked okay, but the sandwiches were mediocre with unimaginative fillings. If you don't like mustard or cream cheese, you may be out of luck. The scones were decent and the cake selection was slightly more interesting. The staff were pleasant, but seemed to be struggling to keep up. Unfortunately, the guy in charge of the lift back down was not on top of things, leading to a long wait. Overall, it was a very average experience.
The view may have been a little cloudy but afternoon tea was absolutely delicious. I had vegetarian finger sandwiches and huge scone with clotted cream and jam and at least 6 little delicacies, with unlimited tea/coffee or in my case a little bottle of prosecco. We were looked after so well by a lovely gentleman and a young girl, we even got a box to take what we couldn't eat, and by the time we finished the clouds had lifted and the view was amazing. What a fabulous afternoon well worth the money.
Maybe my expectations were too high as I had been celebrating my 50th birthday all week and this was the last treat. However considering the price of high tea I was expecting more of a special moment. The staff seemed very laxy daisy, they were never rude but just seemed more interested in talking to themselves rather than seeing if we needed anything. My cousin had to go to the counter twice to ask for more tea, extra milk and extra cutlery. The teapot was just refilled with water and not new teabags. The toilets had the most horrendous smell coming from them. The leaflet on the table about the jubilee tea was all sticky. I actually had a hair in my scone but did not want to say anything and upset the day as I had not seen my relatives for 7 months. We enjoyed the views but this would not be something I would recommend. They really need to improve on their customer service as people are coming here to celebrate special occasions and this should be reflected on the service. Very dissapointed.
