Where do I start? The food was fantastic! So good in fact, I wanted to make a picture, but it was gone before I had the chance.. The pizza is the best I had in the southern hands! Flavorful sauce, lots of topping and the perfect crust. Garlic knots were contaminated with charges from Parm above. Ask for Cornell, he is amazing and was on top of things the duration of our visit. The restaurant is small, but the atmosph... View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Gino's Pizzeria:
We read the reviews and decided to try it out. I'm from Brooklyn and have been searching for a local pizza shop. I don't know what's the deal with pizza down here claiming to be like NY pizza. Have they tried NY pizza at-tall? The cheese should stretch when you bite the slice. It didn't look bad but it doesn't stretch like real mozzarella cheese at all. This place let us down so the search continues. Is there a sale... View all feedback.
After looking at nearby choices, we chose Gino's because of its pictures and reviews, and we're really glad we did! The pizza was fantastic, loaded with toppings and reasonably priced. The chef salad was massive and packed with delicious ingredients, and the homemade Italian dressing was delightful. There's a decent amount of parking, although it's a small shop. They offer some outdoor and indoor seating, plus a small bar. The menu is extensive, with great prices throughout. The staff was friendly and efficient. When we're back in Portsmouth, we will definitely stop by again to try more items. Be sure to give them a visit! Local businesses like this truly deserve to succeed.
The staff are polite and attentive. The food was so impressive that I found myself questioning why I don't visit more frequently. While the interior could use a bit of improvement, overall it was a fantastic experience. I'm excited to return and enjoy another meal soon. Food: 5/5
I just arrived in Portsmouth and craved pizza, so I found this spot on my phone, just a couple of miles from our motel. When I got there, I realized it was a small hole-in-the-wall restaurant. I requested a menu and was handed a paper flyer-style one. It advertised two large one-topping pizzas for $27.99, or so I thought. After ordering two large pepperoni pizzas, the total came to $40. When I inquired about the price listed on the menu, I was informed that the advertised price was only for returning customers with the flyer. Had I known that, I would have just ordered one pizza. On a positive note, the owner did provide a complimentary 2-liter drink. The flavor of the pizza was decent, but it didn't come close to true New York-style pizza. It wasn't bad, but I was really expecting that authentic New York taste and felt disappointed about the pricing discrepancy. That said, the owner was very friendly.
The place is small, sure. But everything else about it is phenomenal. The food always comes out fresh, the little hometown atmosphere, and the owners integration with the customers is top notch. This place has exceeded the expectations set based from experiencing other pizza shops around the area and it just brings me back to my childhood. I never leave here hungry or wanting more.
