I ate here on January 6, 2026. I spent 2 weeks in Portugal with a private tour guide who recommended and made the restaurant reservation. I am from Minnesota, USA. DOP was an absolute AMAZING experience. Chef Rui Paula and his team are outstanding in their presentation, creativity, excitement and novelty! It was such an exciting experience I couldn 't wait for each experience as each one was such a surprise. I had 6 experiences and had a hard time eating all of that. The atmosphere is welcoming, down to earth and very professional. Why this restaurant doesn 't have 2 stars Michelin leaves me scratching my head!! Chef Paula has a 2 star in the Douro valley DOC which I can 't wait to visit on my next trip! Far better restaurant than Bel Canto in Lisbon btw. The second photo in the bowl was incredible!!! It was octopus spaghetti they get the octopus from the Azores and shave it so it looks like spaghetti. It was delicious!!! Seriously I want to fly back to Porto just to eat at DOP again!!! The dessert is a little boat that has black garlic surrounding it and in the ice cream there is kimchee. The lovely server told me smash it all up together and then eat it.. so you experience all the flavors together. This place just blew my mind. I read a review from a vegetarian who called it a tourist trap I am still laughing since it is so NOT. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
Michelin star must be added! this place is too good, everything from coming inside the restaurant to leaving is top class, i love this place, i love their food, and most importantly; i love the staff, as they made me feel like i’m at home! thank you so much!
