What Maria B doesn't like about The Moorings:
I give 2 stars not for the food. I ordered the Fish and Chips. The chips were just ok. The fish was very good EXCEPT for the fact that the kitchen clearly made the decision to take a large fish, bread it, fry it and then cut it into three pieces and serve to three people so the portion was the size of a deck of cards with the white flesh of the fish sticking out of one side where it had been divided. I spent one night on my trip to the Kerry Coast and had a lovely experience. Julie/Julia provided excellent service during check-in and at dinner in the Bridge Bar. She truly does it all! Our room had a beautiful view of the water and the bed was incredibly comfortable. The dinner at the bar featured the best seafood I had during my time in Ireland. I enjoyed mussels and the special sea scallops. My only regret is that I didn't stay longer. I would definitely come back again!
The Moorings offered very pleasant accommodations. I discovered it while searching for places to stay for the Skellig Michael landing tour. The room was comfortable, the staff were friendly, and breakfast was included. Initially, we were a bit confused about parking. It turns out you can park anywhere in town, just avoid the double yellow lines and the car park that prohibits overnight parking. I ended up parking in a lot across the street near the boats, which worked out perfectly. One issue we encountered was that the circuits seemed to be overloaded; when I turned on the bathroom lights, the TV and bedroom lights shut off and flickered frequently. If I revisit the area, I would choose to stay here again. They also have their own boat service to Skellig Michael, which we didn’t use, but it’s an option available on their website.
What a fantastic restaurant across the bay! My wife enjoyed the seafood linguine, while I opted for the pasta carbonara. Both dishes were delicious but quite indulgent. The service was outstanding, thanks to Miss Emily!
What a fantastic place! The food was excellent, and the staff were incredibly friendly. I highly recommend both The Moorings and Portmagee.
I had a fantastic long weekend here last week and I can't recommend it highly enough. The room was excellent, the staff were delightful, and the food in the bar and at breakfast was absolutely delicious! I can't wait to return!
