Stir Restaurant Bar - Portlaoise

Staff friendly and service efficient. food a little pre prepared and nothing to write home about. Covid precautions not great staff had masks but dispensers not working and bottles not so obvious.

The food was not good at all but the worst thing was to find a bug in my 1st plate and a hair in the 2nd one. Awful experience.

I took my Dad out for his birthday along with my mother, my husband, and our children, and it was a huge disappointment. What should have been an enjoyable and memorable occasion turned out to be a disaster. The food was absolutely terrible - cold turkey and ham with stuffing that tasted like cardboard and slimy mashed potatoes that looked like they had been sitting out for days. The roast potatoes and cauliflower stalks were so hard they were almost inedible, and my mother's beef was just chunks of fat. It was clear that most of the food served at this restaurant was frozen and not fresh. The quality of the food was shocking, and it makes me wonder how anyone can call themselves a chef. I would recommend staying far away from the Grain and Grill Restaurant at the Maldron Hotel in Portlaoise.

The breakfast was unappetizing, with greasy eggs that were not fresh and had to be replaced. The cleanliness of the room did not justify the cost, as it appeared to not have been properly cleaned, and the staff at reception seemed indifferent.

We had our Christmas party in the maldron hotel in portlaoise Saturday 10th December. It was a party night with a DJ. The place was full with a lovely atmosphere and the food was excelent. We were a party of 12. We had a great night. Well done to all the staff. We would return to this venue again. Happy Christmas to all Ber portlaoise
