I hope that when companies receive negative feedback, they see it as an opportunity to learn rather than a personal attack or an attempt to harm their business. Given that this restaurant is located in a major tourist city with a working harbor that regularly receives cruise ships, one would expect a well-established historic hotel like this to serve excellent meals. We were recommended this hotel and decided to make a dinner reservation for two. Thankfully, as the dining room was completely booked, this was a wise choice! The barmaid who took our reservation was incredibly friendly and seated us at a lovely table in a cozy corner. She handled the situation well when a pair of loud, intoxicated men had to be asked to leave the dining area. We were informed that our dinner would take up to 45 minutes after ordering, and that turned out to be accurate. The wait was understandable given the number of guests, and we didn’t mind at all. When our meals arrived, they were generous portions typical of pub fare, and we couldn't finish our plates. The dining room was clean and well-organized, and all the staff were friendly and efficient. We would definitely dine here again.
I dined at The Royal Hotel with two other adults, and we had a nice experience. The meals were delicious, and the portion sizes were generous. However, the service was a bit slow, even for the appetizers, though I understand that it was busy, and staffing might be impacted during these 'COVID times.' The seating was spacious and comfortable. Overall, we would definitely consider returning.
We had a fantastic 'Family Reunion' lunch for 27 people on Easter Saturday. The food was amazing, and the service from the friendly staff was excellent, especially given how busy it was that day. Thank you to the wonderful team at The Royal; we will definitely be back!
My partner and I have allergies and we were easily accommodated here. Dairy and gluten free options. Delicious and fresh tasting, served quickly. We will be back.
Staff were extremely helpful and the kitchen was closing when we went, however, they served us lunch. The food was delicious. Thanks to all staff. Highly recommended.
