So yummy and quite! The atmosphere is really laid back and the building itself is really cool. Had a lot of couches and lounge chairs as well as a small balcony. This inside of this place also smells amazing! They have a great menu and lots of options to choose from. The staff is friendly and gives good recommendations if you're new to boba tea. Glad we stopped by this place while shopping in the area. A nice little... View all feedback.
What Sina Staudacher doesn't like about Tea Chai Te:
I got their bubble tea, a green tea matcha drink with boba, it was regretfully lack luster and underwhelming in every way imaginable. Unfortunately I wasn't in the mood for hot tea, this place looks like they would excel with their hot teas. Alas, I didn't even finish my drink lol. View all feedback.
My friend took my wife and I here to get some teas because my wife was craving it. It's street parking here so just look for a spot. We had to walk up the stairs to get to the place and once you walk in, it feels like a totally different area. My wife got her Thai Tea and my friend got his milk tea with lychee. It didn't take long for their drinks to come out. The place closes at 9pm so just be aware of that. They also have a couple of tables where you sit and work if you want to do it from there.Kid-friendliness: This place is kids friendly just be careful when walking up the stairs.Parking: They have street parking here.Wheelchair accessibility: You have to take the stairs to go up.
Ordered Thai milk tea. The tea was very subtle and mostly tasted like milk. The boba was harder and tasted flavorless, not sweet like it’s supposed to be. I threw away my drink and just bought one from T4 down the street : sad experienceFood: 1/5
We were visiting Portland and found Tea Chai Te on Yelp and wanted to tryout. Very nice ambiance as it sits upstairs with a balcony but all went south at that point. When we arrived, the server was in the back and didn't come out for several minutes to take order. Another group came in while we were looking around and some how got their order in before us. Server than went back to make drinks. Finally we were able to place our order but did not tip as was getting frustrated with the service. The server then took another order, made their drinks, and then made ours after wards. What's with that? Because we did not tip? Tourists? Asian? Top it off, tea was average at best.
This little tea shop has been here for like, forever. Back when I was a student in the early 2000's, I used to come here often with friends as it was one of a few tea/coffee shops around back then. Fast forward to 2023, here I am checking it out again for the first time in a long time. Initially, I was going to order the hojicha tea, but they were sold out. So I opted for a jasmine bubble tea with tapioca balls (half ice and half sugar) instead, plus a cheese bagel because the staff recommended it. The bubble tea was decent, it didn't taste too sugary nor filled with ice, just as I ordered. The bagel took a long time to come, but when it arrived I enjoyed it very much. Nowadays there are so many bubble tea and coffee places, it's hard to choose a favorite. This shop on 23rd in North-West Portland is filled with memories, so it'll always have a special place in my heart. However, the prices are a bit too high and the service is a bit too slow. Also they no longer take cash, which was a surprise. If you are near 23rd and are looking for an intimate place to enjoy a moment of peace and quiet, this place is for you!
I usually come here every time I visit Portland, however this time I saw a difference in quality. My drink was missing several bits, my tapioca, my milk was missing, and my tea was severely weak and watered down. Although the server offered to splash milk into my drink as soon as I realized my drink had become something completely different. The walls also no longer was lined with unique pottery that was for sale and unique tea tins. Your tea now is sold in paper bags. The golden Parvati chai was what I usually order online and in-store however this time I tried their velvet oolong. The tea is weak. I recommend this place for the charm and for maybe more fruity teas, but I think the quality of the place has declined. I like the ability to smell the teas that you order as well. They also had cute shaped star fruit jellies. They forgot to give me the heart shaped ones too.
