The food was enjoyable and had a fun twist, offering a mix of creative options and familiar favorites. Our waitress provided excellent service, but unfortunately, the male host who seated us was quite rude. The atmosphere was characteristically quirky, in line with typical McMenamins establishments. What User doesn't like about Mcmenamins Zeus Café:
Our experience was quite disappointing. The mocha we ordered was very bitter, and the loaded tater tots had hardly any toppings with three of them being overcooked. The $24 burger was just average, and the bun was a bit stale. Overall, we left feeling let down compared to our visits to other McMenamins locations. View all feedback.
Convenient location Food better than acceptable Prices slightly high Indoor and outdoor dining street noise and weather obvious considerations Will return
Came to eat before a concert. Service was great and answered lots of our questions about the property and the concert information. Burgers and drinks were great! Will be back.
I think others at the table were happy enough with their food, but for me the cod and the pasta dishes were over spiced. The concept of the cod dish was great, but all I could taste was hot pepper. Switched for my husband’s pasta, and same thing. I didn’t really get to have dinner.
The cafe is pleasant to be in and the servers were attentive and kind but the food was really not to our taste. The Char Sui pizza was intensely sweet with too much star anise and mustard flavor. The caesar salad was drowned in too much dressing and the bok choy was totally ruined by a very strange coconut lime soupy concoction. It was called broth but was creamy. We had one beer and one non alcoholic shrub, one latte, one chocolate chip cookie. Part of the meal was at the happy hour price. With a modest tip the total was $63.00 way overpriced. The latte and the IPA were very good and I remember enjoying breakfast at the Zeus but won't go here again for a meal.
Unfortunately, my husband was never served his food. Merry Christmas to us! We put in one order, and though the server asked a clarifying question about it, the kitchen never informed her there wasn 't actually any left. After he put in a second choice order a few minutes later, it apparently never made it to the kitchen. Meanwhile, we had put in a drink order before my entree arrived, and 30 minutes later, it hadn 't showed, even after my entree arrived. Our server had disappeared after serving us, so I had to go and find her to ask about my husband 's order, after taking 20 minutes to slowly eat so that I might have something left when he was served. She went to check (we overheard the kitchen say, I told you four times , and, Well I never heard you, as our seats were right next to the open kitchen , and then she came over to say it would be another 3 minutes. At that point, I had finished, so we cancelled his order and the drinks that were nearly an hour past our ordering. They offered to comp his meal, but at this point, we were over it. The manager came over to apologize and to say that everything we had asked to be removed was removed from the bill. (I should hope so, as we hadn 't consumed any of it! The manager did at least provide a gift certificate as we walked by on our way out. While that 's at least something, it also requires us to return, vs taking care of us in the moment or not forgetting about us to need to do that! While I appreciate it was Christmas Dinner, and there are always challenges, the fact that his meal was totally forgotten by the kitchen and the server never followed up on it, or checked back with us, as well as our forgotten drinks...well, we didn 't leave feeling too festive. This is our third time going to Zeus for Christmas dinner, but it will be our last.
